Last Non-steam Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">Help! LAN in 16 hours!</div> I am in trouble here. I need the last non-Steam NS (was it 2.xx?) so I can use at a LAN party. There is no internet connection to the room we are using, and I am not going a LAN without my usuall dosage of Marine digesting. Could someone help me out? I searched for it, and had no luck. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> And, if possible, does anyone have a copy of the HL update so I can play mods?

I hate setting up someone's LAN last minute...sigh...

    3.0 should work if you copy it to your HL folder.

    but thats the 2.0 ... ive got a file on my hd thats 2.1q and 146 mb :/


    anyway you migth prefer playing the current version by copying the folder as theclam said before

    You can use Steam, just set it up on offline mode. Really simple to do, also. Have it remember your name and password, check the options and you should be all set.

    Unless he connects all the PCs up to the net beforehand and connects in offline mode... :|

    The wonID based soluitions are the most reliable if you have no means of getting steamID tickets.

    Yup, you need to register it online first ebfore you can start it in offline mode.

    My boyfriend and I did a small lan between the two of us, neither of us connected to the internet at all. We tried to do the offline mode with ns 3.0 and it kept insisting on Authenticating with the steam servers. After a minute it would stop, but then only one of us could be in the game. We did NS 3.0 beta 5 with no problems.

    I think there is a registry tweak you can apply to get offline mode working - give me a few minutes to find it.

    Alright, I think I've found the options. I could be wrong on these; I'm still looking for the original post here on the forums.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Valve>Steam

    There are two keys: Offline and OfflineAFS. Set both to 1.

    If any of your friends have the offline version of CS 1.6, the one without Steam, you can just put your NS directory in the Valve folder and make your own shortcut.
    B5 is the latest version that works with.
