Uhm, I've heard talk here and there about people getting HL to work on Linux and NS to work on linux, it's either been really slow (suprisngly) or has been very buggy. I'll keep my eyes peeled though?

    There is a server sub-forum.

I suggest you run a search there and see what you come up with.
Failing that, re-post this question in that forum and I´m sure someone will help you.

    good luck

PS: There is also a some tips at the download page about installing on diffrient platforms.

I found this guide in the server forum.

    <a href='http://www.vadakill.com/nsguides/linux/steam_ns_30final.php' target='_blank'>http://www.vadakill.com/nsguides/linux/steam_ns_30final.php</a>

This is a basic step-by-step guide made by Vadakill to get your Linux server up and running as smoothly as possible.

Also I noticed that it is recommended that you reinstal your hlds to avoid problems during installations... and then there was something about the -a flag.

Linux isn´t really my thing but that guide might help you some. If that doesnt work you might try getting in contact with Vadakill (his contact info should be on that page).

    Good luck

    OK..

After looking through the guide and going through just about every Linux hl server forum I could find.....

The only thing I can think of is that you may have a corrupt installer for your update tool.

Have you tried downloading it again and reinstalling it?
Is it intalled to the right location (are you sure you are trying to access it from the right location)?

But really, try to register at Vadakills forum and ask them. They seem to know all there is to know about Linux.
