Dedicated Server On A Lan = Possible?

<div class="IPBDescription">My boarding school's LAN...</div> I go to boarding school. At my boarding school there are a bunch of us who like to play lots of LAN games all the time. We recently found out about NS, and started playing it. We love it. We're all newbies right now, as we just got the game a few days ago, but we're learning.

Anyway, we notice that patches are out, and we want to play with them. We don't know how, though. We know that only the server has to get them (are we right?) but we don't know how to patch or whatever. We never use dedicated servers, because we don't know how to do them right.

So I guess I'm asking how to get the patch working for us in this situation.

Thanks in advance...

just drop it in your ns directory. only the person hosting the game needs to update it. he can then host the game and still play with the patch in place.

So if I am the server, I just install the update and host a game like I normally do (LAN non-dedicated) and it will work?
