So lerks will have full 3d flight? Sounds good but what about 4d? Yes I think lerks should gain 4th dimensional flight. Just grab celerity and flap away until you reach 88 mph then generate 1.21 jigawatts and blamo! You leave fire trails in the air as you travel a few minutes into the future. It would be great to see if the rines are going to try and get a ninja phase up outside your hive.

I dunno how usefull backwards flight would be. The original versions (loose) flying would allow you to curve your flight, while looking down and shooting at something without loosing speed. This was very effective for ranged attacks for the lerk. But the new model is based more torwards the biting lerk, which is extremely effective, but leave it lacking in the projectile role.
I personally would prefer the new flight style, with the umbra emitting around the lerk, instead of acting like a projectile. Its really hard to fly around in a marine start spraying umbra at key spots. Thats what the old umbra was good for. You could spot a marine group, fly above, spray umbra without looking down, and fly off, letting your team do the rest with the support you gave. But now you have to shoot it directly at someones feet if you wish to envelop them in umbra so units can close in.rambleramble

Not if you fly in before he charges and spray it it mid-air above rines. That way, when its spreads, the onos can come in contact without problems. It also gives a small buff to the lerk as he can stick around for a half-second longer since he is also shielded by umbra. Unless, you could make umbra detonate in mid air, like a pipebomb. So a lerk can spend his energy creating a path of three or so umbra clouds if and where he wishes. Unlike trying to predict where the enemy, and the onos will head to.

the flying unit should be turned into a little lerky helicopter with spores, spikes, and hellfire missiles. ok, we DEFINATLY need to make it French Toasting or French something, cause you should never pass up the opportunity to make fun of the French. or, make it just "Frenching", that sounds good
By the way, what is/was pancaking?
this was a term from beta4 where lerk flight was free. resulting in a lerk in a hallway quickly bouncing from floor to ceiling while sporing. this may have been before there was a limit on vertical speed, so the lerk was moving really fast and really hard to hit
Ooo, now that we're accessorizing the Lerk with backwards flight too.... let's add a rear-view mirror. Mabye one of those beeping noises when it goes backwards too, like a truck.
Also, on the subject of backwards pancaking, I say it be called flapjacking!
those things are better suited for gorge/onos
the flying unit should be turned into a little lerky helicopter with spores, spikes, and hellfire missiles. Naturally it would come with radar jamming equipment to negate MT and voice/text communication for the marines, and it would be able to airlift injured ground units to the hive hospital or an emergency gorge healing station near the front lines
Also, lerks should be able to write messages in the sky with their umbra trails, to relay vital tactical info or wish somebody a happy birthday
No worries there, Nem. So far the discussions are more revolving around I&S type changes rather than the changes they found in the Mantis. Oh, and Spam. Lots of spam.
That would be hax your chasing a lurk then all of a sudden he swings up and loops behind u and gets u in the back.
like this suggestion?
