Hey i just downloaded NS (5th time) and started the training level. I was about to step into the suit and the game closed and this message appered: SV startbound=127 is that supposed to happen?
...? Do you mean ns_training or the training course for HL?
ns_training is not natural-selection, and the training course for HL only has tio be opened and loaded succesfully (You don't have to play the game, but it is a good game =] )
It was HL training. And when i opened steam NS was there! But i have run into another problem when i clicked on find severs the menu popped up but a message appered: failed to contact game master. or somethin like that.
Oh im in online mode now then. Im off on NS.
What can you do if it only list Half Life Source listed? I have the original Half Life, can I install that and make it work?
Turboearl, the only way to get Half-Life: Source is to buy Half-Life 2 Silver (like me) or Gold as far as I know - and these include Half-Life. Which package did you buy? Does Steam list the other "old engine-games" (Condition Zero, CZ Deleted Scenes, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, Deathmatch Classic, Opposing Force and Ricochet)?
When some of them are listed but others not, maybe the *.gcf-files in your SteamApps-folder are missing/damaged.
But there are no servers listed by Steam as Natural Selection servers.
So I go into Spectate, and lo and behold, there are some. Got a map error right off the bat, then another times out...and then the third finally works, but it's just a fixed view. All boring anyway, since none of these spectate-able servers had greater than zero people on them anyway.
But there are no listings in the Find Servers box, either within the Natural Selection mod or in the Steam client itself, for NS servers. Is there something wrong with my connection? Or is this specific to Natural Selection? ('Cause there's hordes of Counter-Strike servers.)
Check your fillters. More then likly that's the case. If not add the ip in my Sig and go around looking for other ips here and add them to your fav. list.
Hey there! I recently decided to play Natural Selection again after uninstalling Half-ife/Steam a year or two ago. Even after following these instructions to the map, NS still doesn't show up on the Play Games list on Steam. Both Half-life and Counterstrike work fine, but NS won't even show up on the list. Can anyone help me out? I'm really anxious to start playing again.

The Steam client is also what connects you to servers.
Won2 might still be up, but f it is, I doubt there are many (if any) NS servers.
So stop using a pirated copy of HL and pay for it (as there is no other reason to not use steam).
We want to maka a Lan prty with more than 16 players but only half of then have a steam acc! So we want to kno how to play without steam!? I think it was possible we did taht allready in the past! But i dont no what wa have done!^^
Install Half-Life from a retail CD. Update to the latest non-steam version.
Then you need one of the old NS versions, that worked on won. 2.1 Should work (not sure), but for the sake of sheer awsomesauce you better get the original 1.04 client <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Setting that filter to All fixed it! Thanks!
You're Welcome.
Btw: Could we please finally sticky some guide on how to install NS?
Swift ones for example!
