The one map it has is quite huge, and it looks great visually. However if you really look at it, especially in spectator mode, you'll notice its actually quite horrible as far as how it was constructed goes. I mean just bad, bad, beginner errors on it. It looks like it had a leak and the author did the 'big box' method to "fix" it. There's tons of walls that should've been cut out by VIS that are off there in the void. That's what makes the map run so damn slow.
It's also damn hard to tell the teams from one another. Whenever I'm shooting at someone I'm not sure whether its a friendly or not. With FF on this is a bad situation. Its not just me either, its the whole team. Whenever I was playing I shot and was shot by my own teammates twice as much as the enemy, which I hardly ever saw.
Still, its quite good for a first release. Doom's right about the map. The first time I flew around it in spectator mode I was horrified. It's a good looking map, but I can't imagine why the maker would use the big box method to "solve" his leaks. Judging by the quality of the map he must know better. But I'm quite sure that'll be fixed in the next version, seen as so many people've noticed it.

Actually, the current Eternal-Silence project really should be called ES2. The original Eternal-Silence was a mod for the BF1942 engine that worked well enough for its time, but the devs wanted an engine that could handle spaceflight better. Not to mention the complexities of having both a spacefighter and a infantry game playable at the same time on the same map, with seemless transitions between the two.
And fyi, the game's coming along quite nicely. Because I am just a beta tester, I can't exactly give a specific timeline (and even if I did have specific information concerning the dev's schedule, I wouldn't be able to release it). However I can say that we have made a ton of progress towards our first milestone, the infantry-only release.

Don't know if it's been mentioned already. Probably not. But check out <a href='http://www.hidden-source.com' target='_blank'>Hidden: Source</a> It's still in the Alpha stages I'd say, but they released a pre-Alpha test with one map and some prelim stuff. Updates should be coming soon.
Anyway, the premise is more interesting, and fun, than CS.

Neither does the 10+ renders or story. The thing is the mod <b>could</b> suck. In fact it could be like the Pariah demo where most people install it, play it and then uninstall it.
I mean it sounds great, but I wonder if it'll end up too gimicky and complicated for the average player. Plus there doesn't appear to be an engineer option. Which suck because I can't go "She canna take it cap'n!"

The weapons are in, the mechanics are pretty much done (just being tweaked now). The thing is, the devs aren't going to release it until its thoroughly polished.

If it's not done then they don't have the content, dur. Every mod ever probably has content that isn't finished. It's content that IS finished that's useful.
And fyi, the game's coming along quite nicely. Because I am just a beta tester, I can't exactly give a specific timeline (and even if I did have specific information concerning the dev's schedule, I wouldn't be able to release it). However I can say that we have made a ton of progress towards our first milestone, the infantry-only release.

Thing is, renders show absolutely nothing about the game. Neither does the 10+ renders or story. The thing is the mod <b>could</b> suck. In fact it could be like the Pariah demo where most people install it, play it and then uninstall it.
I mean it sounds great, but I wonder if it'll end up too gimicky and complicated for the average player. Plus there doesn't appear to be an engineer option. Which suck because I can't go "She canna take it cap'n!"
I know quite a bit about ES and it will be better than POA.

If by playable, you mean playable in a beta, then yes. The weapons are in, the mechanics are pretty much done (just being tweaked now). The thing is, the devs aren't going to release it until its thoroughly polished.
And hey, we got Swift to join the forums, so at least we convinced someone ^_^
