Still it sounds like a great idea.
When it was called SimEarth.
If it was fun then, an update on it would be awesome.
[edit] DAMN!!! not quick enough!

The Invasion section of the game is enormous, potentially endless. After hunting for other populated worlds, players can venture into the universe in the manner they think best fits their personality: Whether using the diplomacy of Star Trek or the destructive fury of War of the Worlds. Some races will welcome players, while others will greet instellar visitors with hostility.

*pulls out lightsticks*
Wooh- oh. Oh I see what you meant there.
He's gonna get everything procedurally coded. That means we'll be actually be able to view galaxies D: down to their individual planets and then zoom closer.
<a href='http://www.donhopkins.com/home/WillWrightSporeDemo.html' target='_blank'>Notes from the talk at the GDC</a>
A video of Will Wright's speech was planned to be replayed in the GDC theater at 12:30 (only 2 hours after the speech was made) for those who missed it. It's common for major speeches to be shown this way. So word is spreading around the show floor that Will Wright's speech was the best thing EVER and the theater is packed. At 12:29 a volunteer announces, "Due to copyright policies with EA and bla bla bla, we will not be able to show Will Wright's speech." Everybody booed and left angry!
So if EA is trying to shut up Will Wright about a speech he just made... it HAD to have been good.
woohoo!
<span style='font-size:7pt;line-height:100%'>Cleanse the intruders.</span>
edit: he also included situations in which his theory would fail. Which have been largely ignored.
I just think people should research what they claim to know.

I think EA must have realised that Will Wright is far too intellegent and talented to be allowed to represent EA games, so they had to silence him.
Crappy clone sports games aside, Will Wright is what keeps EA in business.
