I get the idea this guy is currently sitting in his office, after spending a few hours at a dock for the photos.
I take it that he will have a rescue boat next to him all the way? He'll prolly do it but he will not succeed. Even if he was at peak physical performence he would soon die/not last by the icey cold water.

It's not the critters that'll get ya, least not anywhere's above Georgia, it's the friggin' water. I've been diving during about mid-December and goddamnit, it's cold. Not to mention storms for Christ's sake. That said, I want to see this happen.

What if they expose him to lots of radioactive waste for a little bit and then he mutates into a fish-man with webbed feet and gills and special organs in his body that hold air so he can maintain a constant depth? Huh? What then?

Hes not gonna die cause even if the only boat following him is a rowboat theres gonna b a whole rack of choppers, probably a fleet of ships, and like hourly arial photos of his progress. PR stunts very seldomly result in death, that would be like the opposite of the result he's shooting for.
