<div class="IPBDescription">Is it risky to use with VAC updates?</div> Greetings,

I was just reading the outline of Cheating Death on their website (After trying a few servers that require use of the program.)

Regardless of what Valve and the Cheating Death programmers say, doesn't it seem risky to be running something like this that VAC could potentially detect as a cheat? All it takes is one bug in either VAC or CD and you're flagged for permaban by Valve.

First, I haven't looked into either program much at all (I used to use CD, that's about it). However, doesn't Valve consider CD to be a legitimate program to be using? And don't they have a system where you can contact them about your ban and ask to be unbanned if you shouldn't have been? If either program had a bug that caused this, there would be many people complaining, and it is highly likely that all of those people would be unbanned, along with the bug being quickly fixed. That's how it seems to me, at least.

CD will not allow you to connect to a vac server, at all.

I knew that much. What's your point? A bug in either program would probably allow you to join the server, then VAC would ban you.

Then always make sure you either never run CD or close it after you leave the server requiring it.

Actually, they specifically say you cannot contact them about a ban. Their policy is that bans cannot be appealed in any way. (At least thats what their website says)

    NS does not use VAC

Using CD on NS servers is your own personal choice.

But tbh, why shouldn't vac ban you, CD is afterall a hook of the dll's used for half-life, just like all other hacks.

    Not to mention its competition.

If Valve was half as mod-friendly as they said they were they would've cooperated with the devs of CD and the devs on HLAmp etc long ago.

I've yet to see any company caring about its mod base as much as id.

C-D doesnt ban you if you use hacks. It just freezes you so you can't move.

I'd say Sven Co-op isn't hacked all that much, but I only play it off and on.
