Whether or not MvM will offically become a part of Combat remains to be seen (it's not currently feasible on Classic). On a balanced map though the gameplay is supurb as both classes are equal.

The game modes are there, they just aren't fully functional at the moment. Marine vs Marine Classic is the only mode that's really worth fixing up. This would be a good way to boost the RTS side of the game. The rest of them are merely another form of team deathmatch.

maybe.... 5 appeal? I dont have anything against them, and have played a few times and enjoyed it. But i'd much rather play a nice game of classic.
But if theres gonna be a story for MvM, in any format, please do not call them "Rebels" its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to overused. It would be better to call them evil twins/cloned/cybernetic marines than it is to call them "rebels".....
I know right off the bat it seems like it'd be weird to have identical weapons pitted against each other... but if you look at any other RTS game, it's really not that big a deal.
In fact, stalemates would be increased, I think. JPs wouldn't be nearly as powerful, the same with heavies.
And yes, sieges sieging sieges would also be interesting. Think about it. It's be a constant back and forth and neither team would have the obvious upperhand.
I think this would be cool, but maybe others disagree.

Long years ago, one of my server admins (he dissapeared a long while back) created a classic MvM map (non combat) and an amx plugin to compensate for ns not being able to handle the strange game mode. (this was in ns 2.0 when co didnt exist)
the classic MvM was cool, but after a few rounds of it, we saw too many issues that needed to be fixed and didnt have the time or patience to fix them. such problems included: sieges vs sieges, turrets vs turrets etc along with numerous other problems.
the map is probably lurking around on one of my old server hard drives, im just too lazy to go digging back in time for it.
as for combat MvM, its a good game mode, but the lack of maps of quality (maps with 1 and 2 unit thick walls, horribly textured and lighted) makes it no fun.
NSA(pretty sure it was them) had it close. They recustom the skins so it would be red vs blue and they redid the skins of the structures so they were red and blue. Add this to some expeimental maps I have seen and you almost have it. One of the biggest problems I saw was teams stealing each others weapons. I think the same happen to meds.
MvsM CO is very fun and works great. I just would like to comm against another comm.
Well - I made a MVM plugin a while back with help from the great coder White Panther. It was a public version that let marines change model to Red vs Blue and it updated the score board colours. Also welder fix ect.ect.
As far as NS_ mvm i started something but unfortunately it was very buggy. I found that giving marines res to me was not possible ect. and problems came about like weapon dropping. Very odd.
