But me being one that doesn't know his music, I can't figure out what name of a classical song to search for. So if you guys can be so kind to help me name some good classical songs. But I'll start with my favourite ones

[edit]Apologies... in my haste to make a superficial impression with an extensive list, I negated the fact that you wanted music to soothe the mind. The inappropriate tracks for such an intention have been crossed out, and those italicized require caution.[/edit]
Dvorak - New World Symphony (9) Movements 2 and 3 mostly, though I like the others, they're not exactly considered soothing.
Tchaikovsky - 4th Symphony Movements 2 and 3 again, beautiful pieces, but most of tchaik's stuff has a little bit of a sad overtone. You would probably like any of his symphonies, but i really only know alot about the 4th.
Howard Hansen - Symphony (dont entirely remember which one) its just an awesome piece.
If nothing else, you can search for chamber music or small ensemble music, it often is less intense than some orchestral music, and there are some really incredible pieces for small groups.
Pachelbel - Cannon
Bach - Joy of Mans Desiring
Back - Sleepers Awake
not really soothing, but awesome none the less. his ballets are great, and get more and more twisted as he ages, and I love twisted.
Firebird, Petrouchka and The Rite of Spring are the big three.
The Rite of Spring is my favourite classical piece, I love the darkness of it, perhaps im a closet goth or somthing...
Shostakovich is another great 20th century Russian, his 5th symphony ( I think this was his 'artists reply to just criticism' slap in the face to the regime at the time ).
is darkness with a cheery coating (alot of russian composers were killed for works not cheerfull enough) [I found it recently on vinyl in a charity shop for £2]
Keepin on with those crazy Russians, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov are groovy (this period of classical music is my favourite in case you were wondering).
other then these, Burnstien is good, as is Mahler (Mahlers another darker composser)
[get his 1st, 2nd and 5th], like a bit of Gershwin now and then..
however, for absolute chill factor, they dont get better then Debussy
Clare de Lune. pwn. [incedentaly, if you like that piece, theres a reeeeeeeaaaally phat remix by Amon Tobin called 'Back from Space']
err.... thats it...
Firebird, Petrouchka and The Rite of Spring are the big three.

I realize its on Confuzor's crossed out list, but it soothes me so there. :P
Plus it reminds me of Earthworm Jim. :P
The Planets, by Gustav Holst. The whole thing is just fantastic, 7 movements, each for one planet. Not one for Pluto though, it as written before Pluto's discovery I think.
Peter and the Wolf. Seriously. The version I have is by Prokofiev, but any version will do, especially if the narrator is an English chick.
The Promise - Michael Nyman -->piano
Both these songs can be found on Pure Moods Vol.1
Very beautiful instramental pieces.
