Well, I wasn't in Chernobyl **/goes off to ask parents but I was born with six fingers, I now have two little lumps about the size of moles on the outsides of my little fingers where they were chopped off.

And did any of you know that almost everyone has above average number of toes because there are some tribes in Africa that only have two on each foot, thus bringing the averagre to below 10.Wierd huh?

Yeah Carbon, two extra fingers means less time wasted moving them!
• UnknownUnknown Join Date: 1970-01-01 Member:
also, the average number of hands, arms, legs and feet in a person is less than 2

Carbon is denying evoloution! We must evolve and conquer, 11 fingers is the way of the future.

Er, the reason the ratio is so high is because 6 fingers is a dominant trait. Odds are that Carbon's kids have 6 fingahs too.

Grrr....Shows what you know about human mutations. 99.9% of the time the finger is just a thingy of skin and bone with no muscles, not even a real finger. I mean if they were true fingers I am sure the doctors would leave them on, and eventually we would all have 6 fingers becuause the trait is dominant.

Chopping of the finger doesn't make it so your kids don't have another one. It only modifies the hands, not the DNA. Shows what you know about human mutations.

Why do biology courses teach so much about LaMarck when they proved his theory wrong? Think about it! They do.

ROUS's? I don't think they exist.

I would assume they amputate extra apendages wether they are functional or not to help the person in their daily life. Extra leg = have to have expensive specially made trousers, plus you look like a freak.

Extra finger means no pair of gloves will fit, its the same with all extra limbs really.
• TzarconTzarcon Join Date: 2002-02-28 Member: 259Members
Yes, it is true that it would be really, REALLY hard for the person and their family if they had any kind of extra limb, you'd get picked on at school, you'd have to get everything specially made for you, and besides, if you had an extra leg, would you need a left shoe, or a right shoe?

GGRrrrr..Tycho, I know that I don't know what I meant to write there......Anyways, is the 6 finger gene really dominant? Although it dosen't really matter because humans stopped evolving long ago so no trait can really gain dominance anymore....Oh how I wish we were still evolving....
• InjuryInjury Mahou Shoujo Join Date: 2002-11-10 Member: 7992Banned
We'd evolve into Skulks, this I am 95% certain of, the other five percent applies to becoming a cow.

Hmm, evolution was really stuffed up at the point where we came so accepting and helpful to those who are weaker humans than normal.
• GreedoGreedo Bounty Hunter Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 37Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Uh, yah, the thing about evolution of species is that it never stops. At least, that is, until the species is extinct. Sure, evolution can be slowed down by refusing to allow nature to weed out the weak, or things like selective breeding, but it can't be stopped. At its heart, evolution relies on the random mistakes made during DNA replication, a process which will always happen.

So, we're still evolving as a species, just not as quickly as we used to.

Yes! Thank you Carbon14!

A lot of people don't seem to realise the fact that helping 'weaker' people is the exact opposite of natural selection, and will probably end up de-volving the human race.

And Longtooth, evolution never stops. What evidence do you have of the fact that we have stopped evolving? There have been only a few thousand years of recorded history, and evolution takes MILLIONS of years. How do you know in a million years time we won't have evolved?
