It's strange to think that my first models were posted in these forums. Anyway, I don't model much since I don't have a modelling program anymore. Instead I've taken up skinning more and more. I'm working for Jurassic Rage (see sig) as a skinner now. This is my latest skin job.

<img src='http://enforcer.onestop.net/sec.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

The reason I post it here is because our forum, similarly to this sub forum, is going slower than I'd like and you don't really get that many comments. Please let me know what you think should be added (within the context of the game).

I think the last thing I posted here was a skin for the m9 hawk by chrono. I kindof gave up on that skin at the last min since I was pretty slow with such a steep learning curve.

Kindof as a side challenge and while not trying to spam the art forum with JR related threads - I'm making a concept for the oposing team - a sortof high tech ops group. If any of your are bored and watch to flex your sketching finger feel free to post concepts here too. I'll probably update the thread with my progress here as well as at our forums. That is if the mods don't mind me doing it.

Anyway, cheers and enjoy the exclusive (wow!) render.

needs more beard stubble. but it looks really good.

Looks a bit too perfect, as in that guys got his gear straight outta the factory and it's never been used before, his helmet and chestplate in particular.
Main thing that sticks out is the helmet and chestplate have exactly the same metal texture on each square inch, needs a few slight changes so not every square inch is identical.

Looks great, the pants are the best imho; but a few details like the straps on the backpack don't seem realistic, and it does seem a bit perfect as earlier mentioned; should be roughed up a little bit some how. Great job though.

well see the thing is they are basically just out of the factory. I suppose it's been a month or so at the most but sure, i can "rough" up the straps and such. I suppose you mean tears? The main problem is that the straps on the UV map take up a very small space, hence why they are more or less color strips.

I think his visor needs a bit of work, but apart from that, it rocks <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

it's gonna sound weird, but the **** looks weird somehow, try some more contrast, it looks so bright ...
Of course, with the great ingame lighting the source engine offers, maybe skins don't need that much shadowing as they used to, since the engine creates those

I think the main problem with the legs is, it's modeled as if it are tight pants and you skinned it like it are baggy pants (with all the wrinkles and stuff)
Same for the arms, but less

don't get me wrong, the skin is great, i'm looking forward the the whole mod in fact <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Mabye put the goggles over his eyes, or have some have goggles and some not.

The guy's a skinner, he can't modify the model itself.

Very nice indeed.. but the face bugs me. Is it the pic or is there really blue on that skin?

no dont do that, judging by his gear hes some sort of special ops, or something where he has a steady base of operations.

Meaning hes not out in the field for extended periods of time.

Meaning he has to keep up with his military related personal hygien and keep a well shaved face lol.

My main criticism is his pants. It looks too wrinkled. Right now it looks as if the pants would be damn baggy if he straightened it out.

yea, the creases arent really making much sense to me atm. Im not really sure if the arms are creases or a camo pattern.

His chest armor looks weird, like it's perfectly smooth with no depth. That could be fixed with a normal map, I'd say.

It's not armour though. It's just a bullet proof vest. If you look up close you can tell that it's fabric. Once we get normal/bump/spec maps on him it should look good.

Anyway good comments guys, really apreciate it. Also modelling comments are welcome too. I think we'll end up adding more pouches attached to the vest and making the backpack look less like a fabric bag <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

i was going to say that i like the fabric bag idea/concept his pants are good, shirt is good, and his chest-ie thingy is good... really really nice job on that...

i agree with the straps... a little side-tear would spice up one side alot.. i would muddy up the bottom-edge of the boots SLIGHTLY more... but then again, i haven't read/heard the concept at all...

great work so far, if only i learned as fast as you do
