    The 'alpha' you describe was a beta testing version which was never released to the public.

    1.0 was the first released version.

    Earlier releases are the Technology Releases (NSTR 1 & 2), but those weren't playable and only meant for map creation (and the Flaytona™ of course).

    By definition "Alpha" is a build that's not released to the public. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> You're limited to screenshots I'm afraid.

    No, I like being able to tell the difference between a marine, an electrified TF, and the victim of a cellophane prank.

    Power armour was kind of a precursor to Heavy Armour. It regenerated armour damage. As anyone who is handy with a welder will know, this makes a big difference in marine survivability.

    Nukes were a deployable, like a med or an ammo pack, which were researched at the prototype lab. They then, after about a 30 second countdown, exploded. They worked like a grenade that did about 5,000hp damage and ignored walls. Essentially, two or three of them close enough to a hive would happily toast it.

    The drawback was that all MonsE used to do was make us defend base for 20 mins until he could nuke the kharaa. This was deemed boring and so it was dropped.

    deemed boring? maybe a little unfair to the aliens, but not boring (well atleast not for the first 5 games or so <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    Ah HA!

    so it was MonsE's turtling that lost us the nuke!

    /me start singing "Blame MonsE" (sung to the tune of Blame Canada)

    I remember that some one (I think Nem0) was talking to Flayra about releasing the pre1.0 builds to the public, I guess it fell through <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
