Okay, this was nuked. Sorry about that. I thought it was more of a bug than a cheat (haven't tried it myself), but reading a few other posts it seems that it is, in fact, a cheat.

You remember the spectator bug in CS? This is basicly the same thing, it lets spectators run around the map.

quick quick quick tell me all about how to do this bug as I'm interested!

That annoyed me in WC3 - the second an exploit got out, somebody HAD to post it to the boards instead of straight to Blizzard. Well done. Instead of 10 people knowing the exploit, now 100,000 people know it... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

As far as I heard, the Readyroom cheat was more of a 'sploit for the Aliens. right at the beginning of the map, one teammate goes Gorge. Everybody else then hits F4 to go back to the readyroom, returning their resources to the Gorge, who can then build like a MFer.

If there's another actual bug out there, I'm not aware of it.

It is a sort of exploit I guess. The resource points you have collected are returned to the pool when you go to the ready room and the gorge can then pull those points from the pool. The downside is that it is only a temporary redistribution of resource points. Each player then starts from 0 on their return to the alien team and will then begin taking their share of resource points again.

What this means is that it will extend the amount of time it takes for them to max out their resource points and stop pulling from the pool as would normally happen to the offensive skulks who spend the early part of the game harrassing marines. That means the team will pay the price in an extended slow period following the initial glut of resources returned to the pool.

I'm not sure that it really makes enough of a difference to merit calling it a true exploit or at least calling it an unfair one.

Unless they keep doing it but then they'd lose their score.

I started the whole thing about the "Ready Room Exploit." None of you described it right, but the thing about alien resources being returned when you use it has been brought to my attention...Good thinking.

Taking a hint from the marines and their lack of individual scores, I don't worry much about my score as an alein. It's about the team win. The only advantage to a good individual score as an alien is the psychological impact on the marines when they see the scoreboard and realize that on measly skulk has been responsible for 90% of their deaths in the game despite the Onos knocking down their door. (Man I love the Skulk with 3rd Level Celerity!)

Ah .. well, normally, it takes about 3-4 minutes for a gorge to get enough resource to build the first resource tower. With the exploit, he can build about 3 resource towers from the start. If you do the math, you may soon realize just how much of an advantage this gives the aliens.

Standard game, income for a gorge

    income accumulated income
    1 min 5/10 5/5
    2 min 5/15 10/15
    3 min 5/20 15/30
    4 min 5/20 20/50
    5 min 10/25 25/70

Basically, it means that instead of putting up your first resource tower by the five minute mark, you have put up four resource towers and are just a minute away from getting up a second hive.

    Just a minor difference...

Until it is fixed I wont be playing NS. It gives waaaaaayyyyyyy to much of a advatage to the Khaara. Almost every server I go into has someone using the exploit. The game just isnt fun when the Khaara use it.

The other ready room exploit (where those in the ready room spawn into the map and can't be killed) I figured out how to do yesterday on accident, and the worst part is you can't get out of it until the game finishes or you rejoin the server. I won't post how to do it though.
