Welders Anonymous
Hi my name is Windryder, and I'm a weldaholic. Is anyone else in the same boat? There's nothing so satisfying as welding yourself an Onos, or teaming up with a partner in HA to take on a field of enemy chambers instead of using up a bajillion bullets in your gun and being completely vulnerable to attack. In my opinion, this is the best thing the marines have.
P.S. for everyone who thinks that the aliens are stronger, just keep playing, marine has a steeper learning curve to get good at it. Once you have, you'll find you can come out on top with marines.
The two most important aspect of marines are having a good commander and having players who follow orders.

(Someone actually accused me of trying to repair the enemy resource tower with my welder. I felt like welding their face for that. Geez. )
That, and there's a warm feeling you get from welding an HA marine and sending him back into combat with full armor. It's even better when he says.. "Thanks" Gratitude, what a concept
I've been one for 3 weeks now. I just can't stop myself
I run around welding everything in sight. sometimes
my teammates have to shout; 'Maybe you should use you're HMG on those fades!'
Then I quickly disconnect in fear of being discovered...
So your the guy that i ripped to shreds? Watch your back next time.
Er. Ouch. That can't be right....(!)
However, there are many times when my welding has come in handy, fixing up turrets, repairing the CC and putting that "like new" shine back on HA. Also, there's nothing quite as gratifying as a simple "Thanks" from fixing someone's armor (well, other than stalking some stupid marines as a Skulk and then chomping down on him when he thinks it's safe).
Maybe us welders could get our own clickable smile for posting? A little welder that shoots off blue sparks would be really cool. You know, just so we can get a welding fix while we're at work and such.

Speaking from experience, Tryon is indeed an experienced and capable welder. Many a times has Tryon welded my HA like. Likewise, Tryon knows the value of welding and always requests a weld when needed.
Welders, if used properly, are probably the best use of 10 resource points in the game. They keep armor and buildings in good repair and do the most damage to structures while costing 0 ammo. As a commander, I try to group 2 or 3 marines together, with at least one wearing HA and at least one other wielding a welder. It's absolutely amazing how long a marine wearing well-kept HA will last in the field without med packs.
Anytime there is a lull in combat, whip out your welder and let the blue sparks fly !!
I took out an Onos with one once, on my own, and he was (from what he said) at full health.

Absolutely. While the Aliens have an early game advantage due to the skulk rush, Marines have a late game advantage (assuming they keep the Aliens from getting 3 hives) in the form of HA, HMGs, and welders. 2 or 3 marines in well-welded HA and HMGs can take down almost alien force or structure, if they work as a team.
Now that I've got some upgraded comp specs, I'm off to weld something....
