Wise men have pondered this
If you got the entire Dragonball saga (Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonbal GT) and printed each frame of every episode onto a piece of A4 paper. How many pieces of paper would you use?

I count 19,462,500 pages. I cannot figure out the math for if you could print 1 every 15 seconds however. I got 15 days, but I don't think it is right.

I bet it'd take a whole rainforest.....

Not to mention there are gonna be a whole lot of duplicates due to a certain problem with the anime beating around the bush most of the time.

Or in short....Grr.... *twitch* *bulge*

Somehow I got 10,972,800,000 , with 24(fps) x (25x60(seconds in episodes)) x 508. I feel like that is not right, because that would mean it would be 10 billion pages instead of the 19 million I first counted. Anyone who can figure out if my math is anywhere close to right?

Probably. I mean there is a lot of episodes with flying around in circles, powering up and saying "Ha I'm only using 1% of my full power!", Staring at each other and yelling.

So lots.

How many episodes were there total between the three series?

Alright, here's what I got:

24[fps](25[minutes in episode](60[seconds per minute])) x 500 = 18,000,000

That doesn't feel right, though.

You wouldn't need so many pieces of paper, since most fight scenes use the same three slides over and over and over.

You know...after thinking a bit more, I think a rainforest isn't enough.

Probably all the trees in the world would have to be used to create so many frames.

.... DRAGONBAWL S0RKX!

When counting, keep in mind that most of the scenes are just 10 frames being repeted over and over and over and over again.

I thought the whole of every DBZ program was just the same episode.

I really can't tell the difference between a f***ing animated Power Rangers bulls**t episode, and the next.

All I see in this is just little kids turning into whatever-they-are-bloody-called, and beating the living s**t out of everything they see, then turning to some TK'ing when there's nothing else left to kill...

Do the 5 minutes of them looping 5 or 6 frames over and over as they Power up or have a mighty discussion count? Because there is a lot of that in Dragonball Z. Like... 80% of the time.

Well... we do the math like this boys.

30FPS (that is what mine are) X (22(minutes) X 60(seconds) X (519(DB/DBZ + 64(GT)))

Equals = 23,086,800 pieces of paper. 23 million.. not bad. (Estimation.. the GTs are closer to 25 minutes per episode).. so you may want to do this instead

((30 X (22 X 60) X 519) + (30 X (24 X 60) x (64)) = 23,317,200

The above is more accurate probably by 50 pieces of paper or so.

How high would the stack be?
• CyndaneCyndane Join Date: 2003-11-15 Member: 22913Members
Well depends on how heavy a piece of paper you get.. some is thicker then others.

However, if you were to use a basic piece of paper.. 2mm is fairly accurate, therefore we have

23,317,200 / 2 = 116,586,000 mm tall

Or, 11,658.6 meters tall,
Or, 11.6586 KM tall,
Or, 7.22796 Miles tall.

Wewt for converision for the non-metric fans.

Considering the amount of frames they reuse in that show, from recycling parts of fights to flashbacks, this makes so much sense it's scary.

if you printed every frame, several million
if you took out flashbacks, several hundred thousand
if you took out dupes (different episode, same scene), tens of thousands
if you took out loops (RAWWWWRRRRRRRRR! etc), about six, maybe seven

so your saying it takes all the worlds trees to make 19,000,000 sheets of paper? think of it a single office depot alone probably has that much paper
• CyndaneCyndane Join Date: 2003-11-15 Member: 22913Members
Well lets use math to explore this option as well.

1 tree makes 16.67 reams of copy paper or 8,333.3 sheets.

Take that divided by 23 million sheets...

(23,317,200 / 8,333(one tree) = 2,798.175 trees.

The fiber in a coated paper (most often used for magazines and catalogs, with a clay coating that may be glossy or matte, or other finishes) may be only a little more than 50% of the entire sheet, because the clay coating makes up so much of the weight of the paper.

Assuming the above is correct, it is roughly 2800 trees.

round up and give each tree 1m^2 and you get: (thanks google)
3 000 (square meters) = 0.003 square kilometers
not much of a forest
