<div class="IPBDescription">help!</div> Whenever I restart my computer, it makes loud humming noises. This started after i got my 512 mb ram NON ECC. It started about two days after i installed them in the computer. Any way to fix this?
EDIT
It's not the fan, it's the hard drive.

final solution, get a hammer, hit it till it stops.
yes the hammer would help then i woundlt have a computer after that lol
If stoping fans doesn't solve it eject the cd's from the drives and see if the buzzing stops.
Basically, go through everything with a high rpm motor eliminating everything. If the source cant be found, assume the buzzing is i your head then prod your ear with a long pointy thing.
Solution:
Never turn computer off.
So does mine. If the noise stops after booting, everything is normal.
The wierd thing is that my computer boots loudly sometimes, yet other times it makes as much sound as when it's been on for a while. It's weird...
By a long time do you mean over 30 seconds?

About 6+ hours
I later found out it was because of dust clogging up the machine. Hitting it dislodged the dust and so the theory of smacking something until its fixed is successful again!
