thoughts?
I have just been playing co_supermario (I know it isn't official), and quite enjoyed the map. I'm wondering if anyone else has played it. Its not that common, and I was happy when I found a server that played it, but now I am kicked and banned from that server. Basically, the admin was being a stereotypical admin - his team, the marines, camped just outside the alien hive, and when we complained about being killed over and over again in the same ways, he just kicked one of us out. He tried to make that a warning, but all of the aliens were annoyed, and so were some of the marines, who actually attacked the hive, but to no avail as we were all stuck in there. I complained a bit more, pointing out facts such as the score (the max kills on our team was 8, which I had, and everyone on their team had way over 10, with the admin on about 30), and after that he kicked and banned me.
A couple of questions: Firstly, has anyone played co_supermario, and if so, what did you think? Secondly, has anyone experienced one of these stereotypical admins?
Incase that admin happens to look here, my name in that game was "boom!" as in a previous game I got a big kill with xenocide.
And just to finish off, I love this game. I only ever used to play co_ mode, but recently I have started ns_. I normally join combat games, and then if they swap to ns_ I stay and try it out. The problem I have is that I don't know any of the ns_ maps whatsoever, and really struggle to do anything useful except building the base as marines. I'm mainly an alien player, but I go marines in ns_ mode most of the time as it is easier (all I do as aliens is save up for the hives, and build res towers when possible). The only ns_ games I can play are sieges, as the maps are so simple, but yet again they aren't official. Plus they always end the same way - marines take the siege room and blow up the alien hive(s). I'll practice some more on ns_ mode, and try and learn some of the more popular maps, but until then expect to see me on ns_ maps wandering round as a marine, asking the aliens where the hive is.

I highly recommend getting into it. It can become really intense at times, you just have to stick with it until you overcome the first few hurdles. =P
Btw, the most popular map on my server is co_de_dust, and the most balanced is co_cs_arabstreets. Do we like custom maps or WHAT ?!?!?

CS rips aren't really customs...
customs = maps like source, rust, hydrosity, or endulus.
That being said... <3 customs.

Uhm, if it's not part of the NS stock map package, it's custom, whether it's made from scratch or converted.
Be that as it may (me being a hybrid freak and all) I learned the basics of mapping by converting, and rather got hooked on it. I know the mapping community looks down on hybrids and I understand why. Nonetheless, some of them have turned out real well, and one is even very balanced.
The bad news is, you don't have the ns textures and effects, so I try to compensate by adding lots of sounds.
For the record, I have also created one custom map, albeit rather basic.
-Follow teammates
-Press "m" to see the map. This is very important to remember when switching from co to ns, b/c you can't do this in co.

And I wouldn't mind that server IP. I'm always on the look out for new servers, especially ones with good admins. I'll probably go and play NS for a bit now, and perhaps try out some more ns_ maps. I have learnt all the co_ maps, but I'm not good with names - basically I don't have a clue what map it is until I am in the waiting room, and then I know all the passageways and vents. It gets annoying when everyone's favourite maps (the ones they all choose in a vote) consist of my least favourite, but I manage.
Anyway i hate that map.
It should be called co_campwars.
As for admins with inflated egos, I've had my share. Just a few days ago, one accused me of "rate hacking" (which I'm not even sure how to do, and my rate/updaterate is at 20k/100) because he couldn't hit me. Then I was apparently ESPing which I didn't even know what it was until he explain it's a wallhack. He also called me a moron and told me to drop the attitude (not quite sure what that meant as anything I said was not even remotely as bad as he was). He didn't ban me, though I wonder why. Oh, and get this: this was an admin for one of them server-rental companies. Great PR at work, let me tell you.
Oh, and then there was this time when I was kicked for killing the admin a few times in a row. When asked, it was because I "**** him off".
<Semi-hijack>
Seriously, what's up with the community these days? I used to be accused of cheating every once in a while before, which is kinda odd considering I'm not even that good, but lately it's been happening almost daily. Aimbots, wallhacks, you name it. Even something as simple as spotting a cloaked skulk is enough for the whining to start. Usually I just shrug it off or make a joke about it like saying I have 5 aimbots on right now etc., but it becomes rather annoying after a while. When did everyone become so paranoid? I think the worst part is that I'm starting to do it too.

The player you mentioned must have been a bot, probably RojuhRodNokkEr. Bots compute funny on these stats (look at all his aliases) and there's really nothing I can do other than delete him, and then I have to delete the awards and re-run them.

Well thanks for the tips guys, I'll try them out. I use the map anyway, but I often get confused when I realise I can't go a certain way that is shown on the map - damn those different levels

Server IP is in my siggy. Newest maps: co_de_mvm_walmart and co_de_mvm_westwood.
Gettign stuck in the ceiling when entering the pipes to the castle all the time sucks.
What bugged me was the orange color: it swallowed up everything! Marine crosshair and alien hud were hard to see, and skulks blended in with the floor nicely.
Original idea though! It was fun for a few games then got annoying.
Another Bomberman fan XD
Plus, you got a chicken avatar , hehe, in game, i'm called SpaceChicken{FR}.. but back on topic ^^
co_supermario could be a good game, if only people weren't camping in each team -_-
By the way, there is a new co_supermario based map, which is marine VS marine, and it gives a more fun than this one XD

Have you played the mvm version? It would HAVE to be more balanced.

...and that's what I get for playing Guild Wars instead of NS for a week.
