<div class="IPBDescription">is someone working on it?</div> Hello all, I'm an avid NS player, but this is I think my first post on this new forum.
I was wondering about the forum skin and all that cal, I've read that it is going to be changed to meet the NS website/mod style a bit more, but I haven't heard if someone is doing it or not. I've been tinkering with some stuff, trying to figure out how to modify ib skins and wrappers and such. Not much progress, but I did make a few buttons:
<img src='http://www.rahclan.org/forums/style_images/1/t_new.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='http://www.rahclan.org/forums/style_images/1/t_reply.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'><img src='http://www.rahclan.org/forums/style_images/1/t_poll.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
I used some sprites I took from the game, some small icons from the manual, and the "Fedyral" text (it reminds me of Starship Troopers), and made some buttons. Now, would I be wasting my time making buttons and designs for a forum that's already in development by a higher power? I hope not, because I'm just getting into the swing of this.
Any feedback and response is appreciated.

i cant actually tell you about the forum skin, i dont really know anything in that area, but let me just be the first to say, great job, and welcome. keep up the good work.
woah, i didnt even realise how reduntant i am. i am.
Hmmm....it'd be cool to have both a marine style and alien style. But thats quite a bit of work.
and editting the skin is simple once you have the admin panel and control done and setup
No responce, to say the least.
I think that would make a perfect Forum skin...it already fits the theme and with some more clever liturature even the forums and website could be written into the NS world. Some TSA remote data interface thing! OK now Im just daydreaming <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> But seriously, would it be very hard to use the grphics you already have?
Then we could have this and that and this oooooo an wat about this but u gotta have dis no dis o and this and that.
i am just talkin **obscenity** and i dont think i have said hello to any1 in these forums yet so i say helllo to u all now becuase i might die before i get to the end ont his msg but who cares anyway becuase i will die int he near near near near further <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

I get confused easily. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
(On topic: I did start doing some forum graphics in the style of the old forum, but I got so much negative feedback in the form "I hated the old forum colours" that I gave up.)
I'll make some more forum buttons, and see how it goes, maybe I'll get the team's attention if I make enough, you never know.
The Fedyral font is hard to read at small sizes, and especially with the slight blur that is being used.
Buttons normally tend to have a 'depth' associated with them, making them stand out. Not to say that flat ones cannot work, it may just need a bit of thinking over before you jump into a design that will end up not working.
The sprites in Natural Selection are all dimmer than usual because of the in game contrast-ramp. You may need to adjust the levels a bit to give them the same as they have in game.
Those little manual images are horrible. Whoever made those in the first place needs shooting! <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I must say, sir, good work on the buttons there, looking tres spiffy. I say keep going with it.
Did you think the manual was horrible? I rather liked it, but maybe it's just more my taste. I like that style.
These colors make me wanna puke rainbows and hump a care bear.
I need somethin that makes me wanna kill some aliens!
Yeah! It was ugly as hell! We should just banish the <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/manual/notes.html' target='_blank'>guy who did the art for it</a> from the community! Untalented slacker! <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
(P.S. Yes, I am Mark James. Yes, it was me. Thanks for saying you liked it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> )
I was thinking of doing a Frontiersman skin first, then if things go well, try out a Kharaa skin (which would be harder graphically, I think), as was suggested.
Redesigned original buttons (see first post). Added the user button, testing it out here.
Still pretty ironic though
