Ok, as I said before, I got NS to work by altering the 'target' path of a Steam shortcut. Now, when I run that shortcut, I get asked to install Souce Dedicated Server..help? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Edit: It is helps, my target has '-silent -applaunch 205 -steam -game ns -console' added onto it. I copied my instructions the day I got them and all I have for adding is '-steam -game ns -console' but if I now edit may target to '-steam -game ns -console' then it just open steam. I assume the problem is the '-applaunch 205' line. If I knew what to change the number to, I think it would run NS..I think?

Yes, 205 corrosponds to the source dedicated server and 70 to the Half Life engine.
I have no idea how it worked before (Maybe before the dedicated server was out? Before an update?) but try using 70. If nothing else it may be because of the recent HL1 engine update.
C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -silent -applaunch 70 -steam -game ns -console

The quotes maybe?
I just made my own shortcut from scratch using hl.exe, and it works.

[EDIT] and if ur missing a .dll, i dont know if it checks, but try to verify your .gcf files for half life.
Ill try to get my CS to launch NS....
I can't get NS to launch with cs's HL.exe or applaunch 10 (CS's applaunch).
Maybe also where the NS folder is installed, it was in my \half-life\ directory

condition zero deleted scenes

half-life 2 demo
edit: origonally, it ran on the target C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -steam -game ns -console but then it changed on its own to C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -silent -applaunch 205 -steam -game ns -console and even changing the 205 to 70 does nothing but open the browse games window.
(Recap in case saying it clearer allows people to help. Sometimes I confuse things when I get angry)
'tis an odd problem.
