those aliens really tick me off..
well, you might have played on a server with me. i ALWAYS play marine, and usually commander.

IF i have a good team, i win. if i make some poor choices, i loose. if the aliens get fade before im ready, im dead.

note: humans are for offencives. aliens WILL win if the game gets dragged out too long. best D is a good O.

so here is my prob:

the chuckle

the line "i will scrape you off of my teath"

i dunno about you, but i HATE the aliens. i mean HATE. i really cant stand them. and i cant stand the happy arogance that most alien players distribute over the battlefield.

This is why we do that kind of joking, scaring, and basically frustrating you.. Kharaa are PSYCHOLIGCAL WARFARE. When you get frustrated, we win. You're not as useful when you're flustered. When you're jittery as well, you're less usefull. Your aim is off, you jerk alot when you here a noise. Turret Factory's power the turrets, btw.

As a commander...I don't like to lose men...to expensive...chuckles. I know some alien players can be kinda arrogent and annoying but, that's how they play lad...just beat em down a couple of times and things wil change. As is the skulk is just a bloody pain...anytime I have a node open...they eventually find thier way there and destroy the collector...most of the time I know it'll happen and can route troops there but...still annoying as hell to hear the computer tell me it's under attack 20 times.

That's why when i'm Marine I try to keep it ez on the commander. I only ask for a shotty, jetpack and the occasional Healthpacks when "NEEDED." Commanders have to learn about the jump key and learn to give out meds faster. =\

    the way i operate:

i make "dream teams", outfit them fully, and follow them. i give them WHATEVER THEY NEED. usually this is VERY effective. however:

MARINES: when you use the RMB menu for medpacks, it doesnt work. why? because there are 535353 other things that take priority on the space bar. if one of my RTs is getting plinked by a skulk, then that comes up before you.

    GET A MIC

tell me your location and what you need. i will be with you within 20 seconds usually.

Come now. I have never ever as a skulk said "You tasted good" or "I'll scrape you off my teeth." Never.

It's because of a thing called balance. Anyway, removing the "need working factory in area" would result in EVEN MORE turret farming and would make marine bases impervious to ANY assault once a certain mass of turrets was reached. Atleast now you can try to have a few lerks spraying umbra and 3 onos with a couple of fades killing the one or two turret factories. If that limit was removed, humans definitely shouldn't be able to build more than 6 to 8 turrets plus one or two siege in any given area, but again that would take teams closer to eachother in abilities yet again.

The same can be said for the alien side, just replace fade with HA-HMG

Haha, I was about to post "that's the best i can do on the medpack" and then noticed that you posted something very similar! That one time was pretty much the only time I've taunted as an alien, except for the occasional "lol" or the very, very rare "bwahaha!" after I do something like take down a Heavy as a skulk.

whats the problem with the chuckle? Marines get the best impulse taunts. Nothing is better than killing an alien and then taunting and getting:

Skulking is hard work if you've ever done it. The waiting is tedious, the anticipation at times can even be unbearable. But when three marines walk beneath me and I drop down and chew them all to shreds, the pure rush of adrenalin I get compels me to say

    "Mmmmmm, Blood"

    Or a simialar taunt.

Believe me, skulking aint easy, but when done right, tis a joy!

And when it comes to a turret farm, lets just say, If I'm in the game, unless you have an armed sqaud there, it will go down by any means I can find...

Also, if you cant handle the stress of the chair, or the way the aliens play or taunt, jump out and let someone else take over...

It's been a while since I've been so amped I could rip through squads easily, but when I have been, I've liked to let Marines see me first. I'll hide on a wall where they can see me, wait for them to turn, then drop and engage the shredder. In instances like this I like to use the line from Twins, "You broke the first rule of the crisis situation," or "You moved too soon." And no one laughs, because it's an old movie and I'm a wierdo.

U fail to kill a marine:

    "aww, poo"

U succeed after waiting em out, parasiting and taking a few chunks outta their boots:

"Gimme more of those tinfoilwrapped goodies, heeeere here"

    Tastes like space-chicken! heh

I made a post about role playing, try and find it somewhere heh.
I really think the Kharaa taunting is part of the game and works very well towards scaring the marines.
Why don't marines do it? They could taunt enough "That wasn't worth my lead" or "Green isn't the color I want for my walls after all!" it works like a charm and annoys the skulks if they get killed 3 times in a row, makes'em reckless, impatient and thus more vulnerable.
Taunting is half the fun of the game methinks!
  • TyphonTyphon Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 1899Members
its part of the atmosphere, and i think it makes the game more fun. I'll admit that USUALLY its only the aliens that are taunting, but i've seen marines saying things like:

    "Cleanup crew, isle 7"
"Need more lead in your diet?"
"Not so big now, are ya?"
"Maybe next time, you'll make it more than 10ft eh?"

Its all in jest, and i enjoy giving and recieving taunts. Its a more social game then, rather than just running around killing mindless polygons.

Part of the power of the skulkage is not the the intimidation, exactly. An Onos has much more intimidation factor. But what skulks have is the sheer apprehensive fear of being stuck in a small dark room full of small things with teeth. It's the bogeyman fear.

Skulking is a very rewarding experience. On many maps, I STAY a skulk until sometimes a few minutes after three hives. The way I see it, as a skulk, I use few resources. My resource meter fills up, and the extra goes to other teammates. Because I *can* skulk, I do, so that other people can play less... well, what do you call it? Other roles.

On one hand, skulking is easy. Run run run jump bite bite jump bite. But doing it with STYLE... now... Like parasitizing a guy, watching him move around, he spots you high up in a corner, and dropping like a stone next to his shoes and then devouring him.

It's just a rewarding experience, being able to play the really bad guy. Skulks, in a way, are the least Marine-like of all the aliens. No ranged attacks (parasite doesn't quite count), no building, and the wallwalking...

Taunting is a wonderful part of the game. Some of my favorites:

    "Glaaar."
    "Yummy."
"Hmm... I'll need another bite to know if it's good or not."
    "Crunchy!"

    etc. You get the idea.

I dont have a big ego, even though I'm an alien player. I usually skulk, xenocide, anything to help the team.

If on rare occasions I do play marines, I just jump out of the spawn pad, ammo to about 2 - 3 full clips and then go off to help out, even scouting hive locations. When the gift of HA or HMG's are bestowed upon me, I try to live and make those RP's worth it, I also feel VERY unworthy of such gifts from my commanders. If my comm tells me to do something, I'll do it. All I usually ask for is a welder, and I occasionally say where we may need turret factories.

Anything to help the team. If taunting the other team helps, then I'll do it. It's like the skulk chuckle, A teammate and I kept 4 marines in their base just by chuckling. Now thats a classic taunt...
