<div class="IPBDescription">I have it now...</div> Well, I'm installing the first disk as we speak. My brother retired from World of Warcraft (just didnt like the game) and picked up Guild Wars, because GW was the alternative at the release date to WoW. After awhile I saw him play it less and less when he picked up Star Wars: Galaxies, and just now I asked him if he was using it. "<i>Nope.</i>" So here I am, in case you care.

And I edited out the nonsense questions, this game is easy to get the hang of.

You haven't seen nothing, yet. Get to the real world, and you'll see.

Stick with like one character until 20, I made 3 characters and it's a pain in the you know what

I'm hoping to hit some PvP soon, only level 3... but its still fun. Was thinking I was hot **** down in the catacombs when I hit level 3 after attacking a fair number of gargoyles..

level 1 relentless corpses(x2) > level 3 gargoyles(x2). Needless to say I almost got my **** handed to me on a silver platter.

Wow, that was pretty cool. I helped some guy kill the nightmare thing that the novice necro died summoning. He needed help getting past the traps, and it feels good to help others...

Also, this warrior/necro build is really becomming. I might stick with it.

warrior elementalist ftw!!! its great for dishing out great damage to groups or single enemies, or just buffing your group (depends which element you specialize in).

    I'm a Necro/Monk

Words of advice, don't do the progressive quests till you've done all the skill and subquests you can find you don't want to leave pretty green ascalon for a while, my flatmate left at level 2 and he's...struggling.

Any class is a good primary class, but if I ever dual class without monk secondary I feel kinda icky... The ability to heal everything up all crazy like is just so appealing. I'm sure there's a few class specific good dualclasses, like elemental/necro or mesmer/ranger, but monk goes good with absolutly everything.

When you reach post-searing just call for 'Saint Galen' and I'll hook you up with any nice items I have lying around or give you some material for decent armour.

    I'll see if I have any weapon mods or runes lying around too <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    [Edit]
Btw, I have a lvl18 Mo/Me that specialises in healing. Just stumbled into... majesty something, wherever it's called and killed all those bone dragons with my henches. My first lvl30 kill <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You have to admit that's quite a bit more gametime than, say, HL2... even though it's strictly speaking not a singleplayer adventure.

Hopefully doing every quest there. Trying not to pass anything up.
edit: my name is rhynic juein if you want to whisper me.
edit2: whats a good area to put my points into? And is there one best, all mighty weapon I might want to consider using end game (such as the arcanite reaper end game)? And it needs to be one handed.. but, what weapon type is it? (so I can go sword mastery, axe mastery, etc..)

so far my attributes (which I just found out how to use at level... four <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> i got laughed at by the guy in my party, a lot. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) dont exceed the refund amount, so I'm ok to screw up a lot and change them around. just focusing on strength and tactics..

where did my good "grammar" go at the end of this post?
  • CMEastCMEast Join Date: 2002-05-19 Member: 632Members
I wouldn't worry about your refund points, you get a fair amount back everytime you level up so it's possible to completely change the direction of your character if need be.

I've heard swords are the best damage weapons and hammers are the best disruption. I'm not a warrior though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

What are axes then? And.. is it possible to just be one class, like "pure" I guess you could say...?
  • NurotNurot Join Date: 2003-12-04 Member: 23932Members, Constellation
No you have to mix classes to get out of the "newbie area", but you dont have to waste any points in the second class if you didnt want, so youd have mixed class only by name and only the 2 basic skills given by having the class, just dont waste points in the class attributes, otherwise it really cant be done.
  • HazeHaze O RLY? Join Date: 2003-07-07 Member: 18018Members, Constellation
Is there an advantage to that, though?
  • AlignAlign Remain Calm Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 5216Forum Moderators, Constellation
Nope. Except possibly having less to think about.
  • cshank4cshank4 Join Date: 2003-02-11 Member: 13425Members
You'd have more points to put into your main class too.

(Just got the game two days ago and loves it)

As far as I know, Hammers are the most damaging weapons but are really slow, they make up for it for having lots of knockdown style abilities though.

Axes have the second highest max damage and are as fast as swords to attack, however they have a far lower minimum damage and overall I think their average is lower than a swords. Their skills tend to rely more on adrenaline instead of energy which has both it's strengths and weaknesses.

Swords are the standard weapon, they have the lowest max but are very consistent in damage output and are fast too. They also have more skills than the other two (iirc, remember, I'm not a warrior).

Because of the ability to refund I personally think all warriors should give each weapon type a try and find out if it suits them or not.

Sorta.. You can just ignore your secondary and put all of your points into primary skills anyway.

Type /deaths and /age when you're in game, seems my playing time was alot more than i thought. There should be a /kills too tbh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

So far in the game, I'm chugging along fine. My personal thoughts is that I feel too confined within the world. Everything feels the same when I'm walking around outside the cities, and there really isnt that "If I want to, I can go there" feel to the game. The combat is pretty good, though. I need to get into PvP.. and I've yet to make up my mind on a second class. I'm leaning towards necro, but I've only tried necro and monk so far.

    I also like swords. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It's much much more like a singleplayer RPG than a MMO. Don't expect the usual MMO stuff.
