<div class="IPBDescription">Why is CS a derogatory term here?</div> I've noticed a number of posts citing CSers as bad, and incapable of being useful in NS. Could some one please explain why such a great game is looked so poorly upon here?

CS and NS are both team games. NS marines require team work much more than CS ever did of course, but many CS players are very team oriented. I would also appreciate it if CS wasn't thrown into the same category as Quake and UT. Isn't their room in this game for a few of us CSers, especially those of us who believed it our job to die as bait for the greater good of the team?

You will always get your CS haters and cs players who can't tell an LMG from a HMG. But, there are many good ones out there, and I have played in many a game where the marines re ripping apart the aliens with ease, using tactics never thought of being used/could of been used in CS. It's like people hating Microsoft, just a pure prejudice based on little fact, not much we can do about it, except bite their legs off <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'>

I think that much of it is the fact that CS is supposed to be a team-based game that is widely played as a deathmatch game, the sort of thing that while probably not good for CS, would be an utter travesty to NS. Myself, I don't play on public CS servers anymore because of people yelling that any good player must be cheating, or not being able to get anyone else to follow the objective. I can see where that breeds a lot of distaste. Some of it is reasonable, some of it isn't.

Some people feel that if they bash CS it will make them sound cool. Just like people that say 'I have played NS/CS since beta 1'. Just try and ignore them. Us CS players know that we have a good idea what to do in NS.

NSers hate CSers so badly because CS is supposed to be teamwork based...Yet it seems that 70% of CS players are worried about nothing more then getting frags just so they can look good, even if that means their team will lose. In NS you are FORCED to do teamwork, which is great.

Personally, I don't play CS anymore because of the level of maturity (or lack therof) in most of their servers. The game has changed too much for my liking and so I've moved on. Mainly to DoD and NS. I hold no personal enmity towards CS players, everyone deserves a fair chance. There will be your share of immature folks who can't help but to brag and trash talk and you really don't have to respond to their goads. It may annoy you, but chances are they're just hitting you for a reaction. CS players are NS players when playing NS, right?

Actually it's mostly because most old school cs'ers dislike the current CS. Subsequent patches to CS have made the game less and less enjoyable to those that originally played it. They've made the game more and more user/newbie friendly. Sure that's better in general I guess, but to those that made CS what it is it's extremely annoying. And by that I mean, cs would not be as popular OR be retail if not for the large number of cs'ers that used to play. A lot of kids that have never played games on a computer, let alone USED a computer, come and purchase CS. It's now flooded with so many lamers I refuse to pub anymore. There is hardly any skill left in CS. It's all random and point and click reflexes. Sit in one spot and wait from someone to walk out and then click your mouse. you can play one handed easily enough now.

Anyways, some people dislike cs retailers because CS is such an easy game. (randomness is your friend in cs) Then they try other games and whine and complain. The maturity level of the majority of the cs community is extremely low. Read the official CS forums some time. IF you can. it's packed with flamers, lamers, and general computer morons. Who wouldn't know how to turn on their computer, but play cs.

Some have a valid point when using the term "oh you're just a **obscenity** cs'er", but then others have heard it and started using it for no reason at all. It's like people yelling "HACKER/CHEATER!" in cs, when they don't even have a clue what real skill is, but they heard someone else say it before so they scream it every chance they get. I can't even play in a cs pub now without being accused of cheating and/or getting banned. They jump on their local cs pub and go 18-6 and think they're hot **obscenity**. When actually they don't know the first thing about "skill" in gaming.

This is funny. A lot of people complain about the maturity level of CS/NS community and in fact they are at the same level. As for 'old school' CS players not liking the current versions, please speak for yourself. I have enjoyed the changes, because it made it a little different each time.

I don't hate CS. But I did develop quite a distaste for it a good while ago. When I did play CS, it *seemed* to have a higher idiot to good player ratio than other games that I was playing. I want to emphasize the "seemed" part of that. I played many great games of CS and I had many terrible experiences. But, all of my CS experience comes from public servers, I have never played in a clan game in CS, or any other FPS now that I think about it.

But I think NS will be the game that finally gets me to join a clan, or start one if I can't find a clan to suit me. =)

Thank you NS players for demonstrating that you are in fact NOT more mature. Still flaming...still saying one game is better than the other, or certain players are more mature than others. citing random percentages without proof. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Frustration with CS players is due to simple numbers. Every gaming community has its llamas, its h4x0rz, its trolls, griefers, etc... and they make for a miserable experience for those of us who choose to play by the rules. When you've got 70,000 people playing CS at any given time, a much larger number of them (not a larger percentage, just a larger number) are going to be those undesireable sorts.

CS with good team players is a lot of fun, though I think it lacks the tactical depth and replayability of Natural Selection. CS with poor team players, cheaters, or people actively trying to wreck the game is an absolutely miserable experience. That's where the animosity comes from. NS will have its share of ###holes, too... it's just a matter of time before they become numerous enough to be noticed frequently (which makes me sad). Stop with the flaming; whichever you consider to be the better game, it's perfectly possible to have an intelligent discussion about it.

I used to love CS. Was a great game, but I got bored of it after quite a while, so I moved on to green pastures. Still a very popular and well made modification though.

on topic however my loathing for cs has been very detailed witch i brought up on CS forums in a more civilized way than most of the posts there... Ive never had much trouble with the immaturity of the major part of the cs players its related to the imballance of the weapons in CS...

CS is not so bad, it's just that I prefer other games over it because it got boring after playing it for so long...

I do however agree that CS seems much like a llama fest and whenver people **obscenity** me off i just say "go back to play your CS" (it seems to be the most common way to diss up people nowadays)

I still play CS lan once in a while with my friends... it's fun if you have people to play with whom you acutally know. but when it comes to netgame it is usually a horribel experience.

The problem with people bad mouthing cs and cs players here is because a lot of them jump into the game, go rambo....get killed...then whine. I think it's mostly the same thing that happens in CS...but we see it here so we notice it...here...not in CS. The good CS players are probably just as good NS players but, since we don't hear much from them...all you hear is the negative...so it goes.

I personally prefer NS to CS because you are nearly free to do what you want! Want to ambush marines? NP, just camp over a door or in a corner, eat that marine who comes by and then get back on post. Want to have wallhack? Just parasite everything or use scent of fear. Or how about some extra speed? Get celerity and you´re all set. The fun part in NS for me is that nearly nobody will complain when you are playing by your style, and that´s why I love this mod so damn much!

Kind of funny to see people get stereotyped to a game. People are people no matter what game they play. There will always be some idiots that try to ruin the fun. As an admin on a CS server I make sure that the idiots are promptly removed.
