<div class="IPBDescription">I turned the tides on those fades...</div> There was this server I was playing on as Marines. The aliens had 2 hives, we had 1, and my commander gave me a HMG and HA (since I was following orders quite well). Just in time, in fact, as fades started attacking one of our strategic resource point outposts. I warped in there just before a fade took out the jumpgate, killed the perpatrator, then cussed to myself as I heard the unmistakable sound of defensive towers healing more assaulters beyond the door in front of me. All alone, I did the only thing I could:
I hid.
I leapt behind the unguarded side of the turret factory, crouched, and waited for one of the bastages to try to assault the turret factory from behind. They did, of course - these were relatively smart aliens. I hear turrets firing, see a cloud of purple above me, and a Fade dives into the side of the turret factory opposite me. After I hear the claws on metal, I stood up and emptied around 40 HMG shells into the surprised alien, killing him instantly. A second fade comes, this time running around to the side of the factory. I pop up again, emptied some HMG bullets and killed him, then crouch again.
By now, I had bound "Peekaboo!" to a key on my keyboard. Knowing the fades would come back, I took a new hiding spot behind a nearby armory. Sure enough, a fade runs in. He jumps around the turret factory, expecting to catch me off guard...when he doesnt find me, he starts gnashing on the factory. I pop up from my hiding place behind the armory, fire off my little bind, then kill him. Again.
I played Hide and Seek in that derelict marine outpost with some very agitated fades for like 10 more minutes before the commander finally found me and dropped a new jumpgate, along with a welder and a siege turret. Setting up both structures and fixing up the area, I eliminated the aliens' offensive turret outpost and reestablished communications with the main base. Meanwhile, I heard that the marines had taken down the 2nd alien hive while I had been busy with the fades. We won a little while later =).
Lesson of the story: Aliens, marines can hide and ambush just as well as you can. Learn to use your advanced hive sight, sensory towers, or parasite abilities, or else you may soon become victoms of the "Peekaboo!"
