<div class="IPBDescription">:(</div> Can someone please tell me if this <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813152053' target='_blank'>motherboard</a> is compatible with this <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152018' target='_blank'>harddrive</a>.

I've got my entire computer assembled except for the hard drive which first off only came with one of the cables I need (the one to connect it to the power supply) and second might not even be compatible with my motherboard =\ My friend was the one who looked at the motherboard and said that it's not compatible so I'm not 100% sure if it is or isn't..

Storage Devices
PATA 2 x ATA 133 up to 4 Devices
SATA 4 x SATA 150

Was I wrong in thinking that means that it's compatible with a SATA150 hard drive? Thanks in advance for any help <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' />

No, but SATA is not IDE, so don't think you're going to plug it in with one of those older pin-strips.

Looking at that picture, at the bottom, between the two IDE ports and the battery are what looks like 4 serial ATA ports. That's where you plug your harddrive in.

At least I think that's how it goes. I just got a 120 GB SATA drive myself and it's working good, but then, I could be horribly mistaken and just lucked out.

The SATA cables didn't come with your mobo? They should be the red cables in this picture:

EDIT: If you misplaced your SATA cables/your dog ate them/they were plotting against you, your local Best Buy/Circuit City/etc would probably have some. Or you could <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=&PropertyCodeValue=1775%3A12111&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=1&Submit=Property' target='_blank'>order them from NewEgg</a>.

Is that the precise board you have? Because often, the series, depending on the actual model, have varying components.

Check your motheboard and look if you have those 4 connectors that are next to the battery and the IDE.

If you do, your motherboard SHOULD have come with at least one SATA cable (the red ones) and check the manual if it has a component checklist. If the cable should be in it, contact support.

Ah ok I see the sata connecters now.. and the motherboard did come with the cables.. I was thinking they would come with the hard drive =x Stupid me. Lol thank you guys for all the help.

Ok so now everything seems to be working.. it boots up and all the LEDs and fans and what not come on.. but my monitor wont display. It stays black like if you have your computer off but your monitor is still on. The graphics card appears to be working, the fan is on and it has a couple lights on it that are on as well. I haven't loaded anything on the computer yet since neither of my two monitors will work on it, although they are fine on my other comps.

Definately sounds like the GFX card. Where do you have the monitor plugged in?

Yeah, hope it's a display problem. Try switching gfx cards if you have a spare one, but tbh the last motherboard I busted had a blank screen problem.

Do you have any way to see if there's hard drive activity?

I have it plugged into the graphics card.. there's no spot for it on the motherboard.

Remove the RAM from the system, and see if it gives you an error beep.
If not, reseat the CPU, and then fire it up, still without the RAM installed.

If the motherboard is responding, then it'll either give you one long beep, or a series of rapid fire ones.

If it still doesn't then, the motherboard might be dead.

Before assuming the worst, make sure all jumper settings are correct, and that you've reseated every possible component.

You have to try to localize the problems by knowing what's making the PC not work.

The first step is going backwards to the last known working configuration (I suppose that's disconnecting the hard drives for you)
The second step is, if this doesn't work, is saying if spare parts work.

You'd want to check the board manual to see if there's some sort of troubleshooter on your motherboard. On mine, for example, there's a series of status LED's.

Ok I tried taking out the ram.. and got no beeps <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /> Also checked the jumpers one more time and they're all in the right (default) positions.

did you plug in the external power (power supply to video card) power if your card needs one? If not then thats proabably your problem. What kind of card do you have again?

I don't think my card needs one.. I have a radeon x700pro pci-express x16

EDIT : The video card has power though because the fan and led lights come on =\
