I recommend getting your hands on the new album, <i>Crimson</i>. I suppose its punk rock or something, but the new album in particular has a soft and more beautiful touch to it with the whole use of violins and pianos and what-not.

Or for a more raw taste, get your hands on <i>Goddamnit</i>; anything in between is a progression between these two albums. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Favorite Band: Breaking Benjamin
Favorite Album: Deloused in the Comatorium
    Favorite Genres: Rock/Hard Rock/Metal
Favorite Song: So Cold by Breaking Benjamin

If you like rock and metal I would reccomend anything by Godsmack, Unloco or System of a Down, which are some of my favorite bands. If you want something good but really weird, then get either Deloused in the Comatorium or Frances the Mute, both by The Mars Volta. Even though I despise modern rap, I still really like old-school rap, so anything by Run DMC should be fine if you want some hip-hop/rap. On another note, I like modern smooth jazz quite a bit, so in that genre I would reccomend Chieli Minuci, specifically his song "My Girl Sunday", which sounds like the song that was played in the movie <i>A Man Apart</i>. Another worthy mention is the album X&Y by Coldplay, just because this CD is excellent, although not to my tastes. Classic Rock is also one of my favorite genres, and anything by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or The Who is a good choice. Hope I helped.

Someone gave me some Aerosmith cd's. I never really listened to them before, but they do have some good music as I discovered this morning on the trainride to college <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Also the music from animes, The OST's from Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are pretty cool.

    Band: Rob Zombie
CD: American Made Music to Strip By
Genre: Uh.. heavy rock, I guess
    favorite song: Spookshow Baby

The Spawn movie soundtrack is really good also, various artists. ^^

Hmm I have a pretty odd collection since I tend to like songs with more music talent and less or no lyrics. The interesting thing about no lyrics is that it is less distracting (great for driving or gamming), they make great background soundtracks, and the good ones you won't ever get sick of.

(ie: Accoriding to a study done at the reason you get sick of a song is because your brain is reusing the same neurons which are getting tired and because you can predict it too well; lyrics make this worse as your brain will process the words though a filter constantly even if you are thinking you are ignoring it)

    Artists:
    Teque
    Paul Spaeth
    Edgen
    Shojin
    Lagoona
    etc...

...but since this thread is derailing into a post your favorite bands thread...
<b>(Has anyone noticed how the Off Topic fourm seems to get one of these every 2-3 months)</b>

So here then is an unordered list my favorite<span style='color:gray'>*</span> bands:<ul><li><b>Enya</b>
(good for peaceful or extreme violence)</li><li><b>Green Day</b>
(I've liked them long before <u>Nimrod</u> even came out and they've stayed good unlike the majority)</li><li><b>Nine Inch Nails</b>
(wicked cool sound, a hybrid between rock and techno genres)</li><li><b>Halo</b>
(not really a band persay, but you never get sick of the songs)</li><li><b>Rob</b> Zombie
(<span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'><span style='font-family:Courier'>|20C|<!>\^/]\[$_/00|\|00|3|_@|2</span></span> heh now we see who can read real 1337, not the pseudo verion invented by CS)</li></ul>
<span style='color:gray'>* -- This is just a small sample of artists that I like. These are the top because they have more songs that I really like than the others. I actually like a very wide variety of music, but the trend for me is to hate almost all pop and country. (there are exceptions of course, the older country and rap songs and the ones that are hybrids with more than that one genre) Is is also a trend with me to like songs which are hybrids. Bottom line is that if it's good music, I love it no matter what you call it, how you catagorize it, or who made it.</span>

How has it derailed into a "post your favorite band" thread if that's what was asked for to begin with?

To put some use to my post:

    Band: At this moment, Rasputina
Album: The Wall (Pink Floyd, for all you really depressing people out there)
    Genre: Can't really say
Single Song: Ooch, toughie. Maybe Cossack Patrol by Ivan Rebroff, Saline the Salt Lake Queen by Rasputina, or Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie. (thus defeating the purpose of asking for a favorite single song.)

    Band: Currently it's Senses Fail
CD: Hot Damn! by Every Time I Die
    Genre: I'm in a hardcore/metal mood lately
Single song: Hurricane by Bob Dylan

If you like hardcore, check out Every Time I Die. They're <i>awesome</i>.

Band: Funker Vogt or VNV Nation, tough choice.

Album: VNV Nation - Matter and Form

Genre: EBM/Synth/New Wave Industrial/Industrial(first two sound almost identical)

Song: Funker Vogt - Fallen Man/Body Count/Subspace/Final Thrill (IT WAS A TOUGH CHOICE OKAY.)

Seriously. Those two bands are the majority of what I listen to right now.
