People Hiding When Their Team Losess....

This would be like the "camping" in CS to waste time,except,worse,theres no time limit!!!

Its really irritating to take out all the hives and a bunch of skulks/lerks are hiding in some vent(easy to find) or some obscure place in the map(VERY hard to find).,or marines with jetpacks hide in vents.......

Will anything be done to counter this probelm?

    Useless camping is bad I agree, but I have come VERY VERY close to getting one hive back when I was the only alien left alive. (Try 4 seconds and we were back in the game close)

    I think a gorge should have access to offense chambers at a minimum even if there is not one hive alive. Just one gorge, by himself. WITH SPIT? The possibilities of ANY sort of comeback border on 0.

    it's annoying to say the least when you have to hunt down that last marine or alien. seemingly takes forever too after all the faffing around that you've been forced to do to take out their last base.

    suppose it is part of the game but when you get taunting from that last player "ooh can't find me!", you've got to think of the poor sods who are part of the losing side who are stuck watching and waiting for the annoying bugger to die.

    As far as I'm concerned, it wasn't even broken. I've never had a match run more than a minute or two 'overtime'. If the match is a big comeback after the marines lose their CC, can't build jetpacks, and an alien decides to wait in a vent then there's a problem. Other than that it's not hard to find somebody.

    When playing last night we ran across a player who always seemed to be the last one alive on the marine side. After the base was destroyed, he ran into the vents and crawled back and forth for about 5 to 10 minutes, he killed maybe one skulk and hid in the vents. Us, the losing, dead marines had to follow him around until he walked into an alien outpost with a few fades, this is annoying to the dead and frustrating to the aliens because they have to hunt down one person in a huge man. It would be nice if this were to be fixed. But how?

    Well let´s say that all aliens except one are dead and all hives are lost. The remaining alien could still get his resources from a resource tower and theoratically build a hive (if the marines are too dumb to secure one hive properly). So maybe make it this way: If all hives AND all resource towers are lost, the alien dies automatically because there is no way for it to rebuild a hive or to take back the resource nozzle. Same for marines.

    Nah, I like the idea, but with marines, it would basicly mean that the second the marines lost their comm, that their game is over, I think there is no way to do this for marines. Unless they do the "Short Game" idea which is once buildings are destroyed that the game is over.

    i was able to put up a hive as the last gorge last night, we didn't win, but we dragged the fight out for a little longer. i've actually been on a marine team where we wiped out all the hives and one last gorge brought one back. the aliens ended up winning. as long as one alien is left the game is still going on in my opinion, i hope this doesn't change in 1.03. with one marine left it's fruitless to hide, but with sensory towers and scent of fear, you can't hide long anyway.

    it's certainly amusing to see a lonely gorge hanging out waiting for a hive to rebuild as the marines try to search him/her down.

    It's very annoying, but it is funny when the dead temmates start telling the opposing team where the person is so they can kill them.

    There has been a few times where I have found open hives and will yell at them to take it over... then the kharaa atatack are base and I lose.. I never get tolded when we are under attack

    You know, I'd love to constructively criticize this post... but that's possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

    Elaboration:
    1) If the game ended as soon as aliens got 3 hives, you would never see an Onos in-game, nor any of the aliens' 3-hive attacks, nor any triple-upgraded aliens. 3 hives are required for all of these top-tier elements.

    2) Marines up against 3-hive aliens have come back to win; I myself led a marine team to victory in one game where the aliens actually got 3 hives up TWICE.

    3) Aliens reduced to one hive against HH marines can come back to win; I was personally responsible for such an upset once when I single-handedly slipped through defenses on NS_Hera to destroy the CC and IP (Ok, I had help on the IP, but the CC was all me).

    4) This isn't about making comebacks; it's about preventing people from hiding and prolonging the game. Comebacks are an unlikely and unbelievably exciting element of NS.

    Now, I know I've hidden as an alien at endgame before, however, that was to negotiate my execution. Unfortunately, while I got half the marines to agree, as soon as I left my vent I ran into a trigger happy punk that was from the half that ignores messages, except to spam HA/GL!
    Hrmph. You'd think that if I had lost the game, I'd get to go out in a blaze of firey grenaded glory like I wanted.

    Oh, and I almost forgot, I've had a game where a gorge had half-completed a hive, under turret fire, no less, before a flock of marines figured out where he was and stormed in.
    As for the bit about 3 hives=marine defeat, I've seen the marines come back and exterminate all three...and vice versa regarding a single hive of aliens. Once again, its all player skill, not the cool junk you have--I've even had a friend pull out a win when their CC was destroyed. Talk about dramatics.

    If it is, you really should play more rounds with better people--I've watched my team of marines **obscenity** [edit: sn*tch is an obcenity?] victory out of the jaws of a Fade and off the horns of an Onos, and turn it around to win..
    Just as I've watched the aliens turn the game around and take the second, and then third hives, and then marine spawn.
    Its not game mechanics, its player malfunction.

    I had to bite my toungue the other day...We had just lost our last hive and I saw some lowly gorge hiding in a vent near a hive after the whole team was dead....Marines goin crazy lookin for him to no avail..right when I started bitching about this retard wasting our time...lo and behold...I respawned!!! somehow the marines left a hive inguarded and the lil guy rebuilt!!!

    I experienced thee same thing not too long ago..... The marines had gotten a lucky break because my team mates didn't give a **** about the hives and just let them die. Fortunately the marines didn't bother securing it so I just build a new RP tower and when I had enough RP's, a hive. We ended up kicking the marines butts straigth (spelling?) into a new map <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
