rate 20000 //max of HL engine
cl_rate 20000
ex_interp 0.06 //I find (ie my opinion) .06 is the best for hit reg for marines. 0.0 for aliens
ex_extrapmax 1.2 //default
cl_updaterate 45 //about half of your FPS. too high and it will cause issues in heavy combat areas, overflow you pipe.
cl_cmdrate 87 //approx +2 of your average fps, anymore and it is just a waist of packets. The less clutter/spam the better.
thats my opinion.
The script provided there works fine for me.
I was reformatting my computer for the first time in 2 years, having steam downloaded for so long I forgot all the things I had setup and changed to give me maximum ping. I reinstalled steam and tried to run natural selection, and my ping was around 2000 (I couldn’t not talk to people to ask what was wrong, nor could I hear them. I had no idea what was wrong, because I had forgotten that I tweaked a load of my settings to get my ping at high setup. Finally after about a month I had figured that my steam settings were set to 56k or whatever. I really think that it is retarded having the settings to where just selecting your settings has so much change on the game. I think it should automatically pickup your settings. Anyways this is really something for the steam forums.

Why is this and what can I do about it?
You can try doing a search of the scripting forum for rate information. You know, the search button on the top of every forum page?

What's that good for?
