GTA continues to be fun because it provides an experience no other game has replicated even near as well, and STILL has a better story.

The whole reason GTA is fun is that you can do what you want; whenever you want to do it.

Mmm, nice draw distance on the third shot. I think this'll also be one of the first PSP games that let you listen to mp3s on the good ol memstick while playing as well.

GTA is fun because it's like an MMO game only there's action and no annoying players to bother you.

And despite all this freedom, they still spend all their day beating up prostitutes to get back their money. You could swap GTA for a copy of "Prostitute Pwner 3" and they'd never notice the difference.

You won't believe how many tries it took me to find a word for a person who does sex for money that wasn't censored.

Er... I played GTA3 and had a lot of fun actually completing the story and doing little rampage/taxi/911/vigilante missions along the way... Beating up the prostitues for your money isn't all that big a part of the game, actually.

In general you can't judge ANY game unless you actually played it. And not the 5 minutes over at your friends house to or watching the trailer, that's just way to short and uninformative.

I've seem someone post crap about Gta san andreas, which wasn't true, and his entire view on the game was based on that. It was about gta sa being a sim game and you're forced to maintain your player his needs (hunger, sleep, and other sims kind of things)
Someone then asked him how long he played. The answer was "oh uh I saw it on the tv. hehe"

    Off-topic:
Btw San andreas has some of these sim things, but they are far from mandatory. That's actually the best thing about the gta-genre games. Nothing is mandatory (apart when you're on a mission that is)

I thought San Andreas was the best of the series, easily, except for the sheer coolness of having a character that never spoke(I love it when a game does that o.o).

I can't stand just running around killing crap in GTA. To me, its just not fun. The story though, is insanely fun, as well as the mini-missions, which SA seemed to have, oh, 12 different types with like 20 levels each or something? It was awesome.

QFT. San Andreas is big enough that this really holds true.

Edit: I think San Andreas is easily the best of the series. The style is dead-on (although I'm probably one of maybe three people on these boards that relishes hip-hop culture), the acting and writing is almost unprecedented in quality (Sam Jackson ftw), and the gameplay is much better than any previous title in the GTA lineup. The planes are more fleshed out and are seen in much greater abundance, the shooting system not only doesn't suck but is in fact quite good, the world is enormous, and the character building systems makes it feel like an RPG. San Andreas is in my mind an instant classic, and I really don't care what its critics say.

Narfwak is right. I don't see how you can like GTA3 more than SA, there's just such a huge gap in the quality, style, and amount of content.

I think Vice City was the worst of the series, but that's not saying much. It was still a damn good game, even if the 80s were a time of chaos, confusion, and evil in the world (especially the hair).
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
Vice City had the best soundtrack though. That's easily San Andreas' weakest point. Everything else is really solid, but the only station I can stand listening to is SF-UR (and that DJ is just hilarious).

On that note, to whom is bad german more fun? To germans or non-germans?

I hated VC's soundtrack (winamp global hotkeys saved me there). Playback FM ftw.
  • Crono5Crono5 Join Date: 2003-07-22 Member: 18357Members
Actually the soundtrack is one of the things I liked about SA (Radio X). I like GTA3 more because I like the story and style better. I can't connect to SA's story at all, and even though it has a lot more content, GTA3 has enough content for me to be happy with. I do wish GTA3 had some of the features SA had, but I just can't get into SA.
  • TommyVercettiTommyVercetti Join Date: 2003-02-10 Member: 13390Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
My favorite station in SA was Radio Los Santos. That game really lets you get into the hardcore ghetto gangsta image. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

People have been making massive map hacks in SA. Maybe they'll make a "Grand Theft Auto 3: San Andreas: Liberty city" mod <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

How can you hate the music of the eighties? That's like hating... non-hate. So hate-filled. How? HOW? It's as if this man knows nothing but hate, hate for everything that is good and beautiful. A being of pure hate.
