How did this thread start bashing America when it was praising Londoners?
From what I saw on the news, the people in London handled the disaster very well. I was impressed with the way things went. I thought it was pretty funny that, during the press conference the day of the attack, one of them men was saying (paraphrased) "If it wasn't for the areas attacked being a crime scene, we'd be able to open up those areas and start running again!"
poppies are also well known for the poem "In Flanders Field" ( clicky for more info ) made by John McCrae a Canadian in Second battle of Ypres during WW1.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

How can you not know what poppies are!? Beautiful flowers, get fields full to the brim of them - completely red. Looks wonderful. For remembrance day we generally use plastic ones though.

One of those fake, cod–Latin things that phrase! “Don’t let the bastards grind you down” in Latin actually goes: “Noli arrogantium iniurias pati” .
