Help Bones Find A Game To Buy...

for his birthday
since basically all of my family is giving me cash (they told me ) I'm been having a hard time figuring out what to buy with it (still not sure if it will be a game at all) so I need you help, But I do have a couple requirements:

1: Not battlefield 2 (the demo didn't run on my system so I doubt the game will and I won't be upgrading for quite a while if at all)

2: Must have an active mod community ( I <3 mods)

3: a multiplayer community of decent size.

thats about it really.

A couple that I've been thinking about are:
Dawn of War
Joint Ops: Typhoon Rising (assuming it has a active mod community)
Silent hunter 3 (again points 2 & 3)
Ghost Recon + expansions

thank you all in advance.

If your requirements are an active mod community, you're pretty much limited to Half-Life 1 right now.

Waiving that requirement, start acquiring PC parts until you can run BF2, then get it.

Joint Ops is a great game, I played the multiplayer version and it's just all out awesome.

I doubt they have a big mod community, if one at all. It's just good for the game.

CoD isn't as good as I thought it would be. I bought the game and it's....meh.

I might suggest an mmorpg? Maybe ww2 online.

CoD: UO has one addictive multiplayer.
I have to go cold turkey on it by lending my CD to friend during the final period last semester.
