I messed around a bit. The top is an "illustration" render and the bottom is exporting it to Rhino and using that renderer. It kind of gives it a really cool vibe, but I'll try and get a 3ds render sometime soon.

no, its a hand grenade.
i still cant put my finger on it...but now it looks even more moritaish....
that said... i don't like moritas.
Hahahahahahaha.
Maybe the rifles shown at the end of ST, the one that blows the moutain open.
That's a very nice model.
The shoulder rest is a bit bulky, maybe.
It might also benefit from a shortened barrel, since the grenade launcher doesn't need to be attached to it, a la M16.
The whole front section feels a little longish for high-maneuverability CQB.
The space between the grip and the shoulder rest could also stand to be shortened a little. For a deployed MG, the length might be alright, but an assault weapon, the whole thing's quite long and ungainly.
I assume the handle doubles as a sighter, so the distance between the barrel and the sights is long.
It is a very complete design, though. It feels like it could be real, but its length makes it impractical.
As a sniper rifle it'd be good. The barrel is extremely long, so accuracy would probably be high.
For safety, I wouldn't put the grenade trigger with the rifle trigger either.
And yes, it is a grenade launcher underneath.
I've still changes to make, though.
I wasn't talking about SST. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
its a nader for the model, its kinda reworked but its based on this concept <img src='http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/rokentsu/rifle.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I just dont get what purpose the "handle" on top serves? On a Colt XM177 or Colt M4a1 its a split handle with a sight inside.
And about the SST thing, I think he meant the grenade launcher used in the end of the SST film. When they blow up the dirtpile. While commenting "..With new advanced weaponry." Or something like that.
You really improved it!

sights are on the carry handle
Sorry.. This picture I mean
Very nice, I'll use this for sure if it gets done.

i was not talking about the model , i was talking about the fact that the underbarel secondary weapon of the morita in sst was a shotgun, because i thought W.K. meant the sst morita....
oh..btw that concept is crap..... but some some stuff got improved on the model.the double trigger is still crap, (on the model are p90/aug style triggers like i would have them suggested..but the arrangement need some reworking, it have to be more intuitive and ergonomic). and do something about that boxy grip, looks not very nice to hold.
I mentioned SST because you said this ^. I said "ST" because I forgot the movie's titled was being shortened with two SSes. My thought was that it was making you think of SST's main rifle because it might look a bit like the rifle at the end of the movie.
But after that first line, I was talking about the model in this thread. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That seems to be common with custom models. People extrude instead of building the grip out of a sphere, or creating the polies manually. Most weapons have been nothing but extrusions and cylinders. That wouldn't be my own personal approach, but the justification is that the grip ends up covered by the hand anyway, so it can't be seen. I'd rather see a model built as if it were real, with formed grips and all, but that's just me.
