I didn't want to get sucked into the Harry Potter craze when they started, although my little brother did. When the first movie came out, I wanted to see it, but he wouldn't let me go until I read the book. I did and it was so addicting.
I will be buying the new book when it comes out. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Harry Potter was good for the first three books. Then it just went downhill from there. seriously. the villain is very stupid and cant get a plan right. Yet, they all fear to speak his name. The plots get dumber and dumber, running out of originality. Most of the things happening are basically impossible. I don't mean the magic and all. I mean how can a teenage go through so much and be alive and sane?
Plus, I find it slightly repetitive. Harry Potter goes to school, has an adventure, goes home. Seriously, I think she should change that as it gets really stale. Plus, the language used is not that outstanding. Just plain old normal english to me without any sophisticated words.
I also find the characters quite one-dimensional. the only character which has some depth is harry potter. The backstory is also not properly thought out, leaving many big gaps.
The Harry Potter series is good if you are twelve and below. Anybody above should move on.
Now what am I going to do with this complete Collection of Discworld books? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> Oh my, come on, that was obviously a typo. It's "THE" books.
Hey, as far as I'm concerned I'm already a dork for reading books. I'm just not interested in reading Harry Potters. I've read plenty of other books that have made real men shaking their heads, and my sister thinking I'm a sizzie.
Never did like Harry Potter. Actually couldn't stand the first book, or what I've read from a few of the others. My SO is obsessed with the books though... Cruel irony.
You know, Harry Potter needs more guns. I mean, think about it. Voldemort walks up to Harry with his wand out, ready to kill him, and Harry pulls out a 12-Gauge Shotgun and blows him away. Lets see his precious magic get him out of that! Or, if Voldemort had simply used a Magnum when he went to kill Harry and his parents, a whole lot of trouble could have been avoided.
I love the books, but Rowling needs to write "Harry Potter and the Semi-Automatic Rifle".

Dang that's a mature response. Screw guns,Harry Potter needs more aliens too. EDIT: On a similar note, if you have become so calloused that you can't enjoy a Harry Potter book, you have died inside!
It's a really really quick read, but the fifth is disappointing so far (I'm only a third of the way through). Harry just got really angsty and annoyingly irrational really quickly.
I've often wondered how she's going to handle the characters as they age; The goings-on in the mind of a seventeen year old are certainly not appropriate for a twelve year old kid. Of course, this hinges entirely upon whether Rowling will actually write Harry, etc. etc. as a believable teenage character or whether he'll stay as this weird, sexless, viceless man-child for the rest of his life.
Note: If Harry scores later in the fifth book, said point is nullified.

Seriously, everyone around me relates me to him....<b>but it's wrong!</b> Heck, a few people I knew were intent on adding that lightning-scar on me....
I read 4 of the books for the sake of reading them, got about half-way through the fifth book and lost all interest in Harry Potter. Although I'm probably going to see the Goblet of Fire movie this Fall.

It's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. And I never read Harry Potter, never did find books appealling.
You're too cool to read. Obviously.

Why??? Why does XXXXXXXXX have to die? WHY?
Even though I kind of suspected they would be killed off soon anyway.
