What Is Pancaking?

I've done a search with no answers on lerks or fades "pancaking." What is it and can it help my game?

In earlier versions of NS, lerks had an unlimited vertical speed cap. Meaning they could go <i>really</i> fast up and down, making them impossible to hit due to laggy hitboxes. Anyways, this problem was partially solved, with the introduction of a vertical speed cap - I've found it to be ~1200 units/second with celerity, don't know about without.

You sometimes see lerks flying florr to ceiling to floor very quickly, this makes them hard to hit and is the only way of pancaking still around nowerdays that i am aware of.

A standard three jump script makes it very easy to do.

dude, just sign up for amped its really worth it. You can download so many movies and demo's from there. BAsically anything that comes out for comp ns can be dl'ed from amped.

For those interested in this technique's Origin, there was a version (was it 3.0b2?) where they removed the lerk flap energy cost to promote the usage of other abilities. What happened was, everyone and their family was going up and down all over the place while sporing, it was quite funny. It was possible before that version, but this is what really 'introduced' it.

It is still possible to pancake (meaning going up and down very fast to avoid bullets) but it takes a lot more than a triple jump script now since you actually have to look up/down while holding forward. This is because they fixed the up-speed rate. So you have to use your forward speed rate to pancake, which makes the whole thing a lot more difficult...

edit: wasnt it 3.0 beta 4? and when they found out about that pancaking thing they quickly changed it into beta 4a..

i signed up awhile back, problem is with work now i don't have much time for games anymore (though works a great excuse for brosing the forums lol)

so what exactly does the 3 jump script do that you can't do by hand i'm just curious? coultn't someone just jam the jump button 3 times fast?

also about where in the flight do you jam it? when you are at the top of the hill or at the bottom? or while your in the middle

3jumpscript was made so that people could accurately bhop. Because it runs 3 jumps in one button press simultanousely you can press it just before or as you land to jump automatically again. Although now people use mouse wheels.

Still the 3jumpscript can be used as lerk. As soon as you press it - it zooms u in the air like 3 jumps would. It is ofcourse faster then any hand or finger.

You may also use mouse wheel.

Do it when wanting to fly up and then to pancacke look down and press it again. Keep repeating. (or scroll ur mwheel).
