I installed 1.04 not too long ago and I started to get this error, so I reinstalled NS.
After reinstalling NS, and trying it again, same error.
ANy ideas? it has something to do with buffer.dat

Is what Buffer.dat says.
And thats after I <u>reinstalled.</u>
Are all buffer.dat files the same across the board? Would it be possible to just find someone else and CP their buffer.dat?
EDIT:
Okay, the problem is still occuring, but I've looked.. and theres more problems the console says its having.
Requesting tempdecal.wad from server
Custom resource propagation...
Decompressing file !MD5e4a31f240b4d50624f685998af61090f (4240 -> 629
It pretty much says that all the time or repeats the tempdecal.wad thing about 30 times before that long list of stuff error.
EDIT2: airyK from 2id was good enough to help me out, he said it was the fmod.dll, I did what he said and I got a different error, but then my NS started freezing and doing other weird things.
So here was my solution, uninstall NS, uninstall HL, uninstall all other games, uninstall steam and delete the steam folder in that order.
Reinstall Steam, reinstall HL, reinstall NS, customize.
I have yet to see if it works.
Make sure it happens with every server (even test previous patches like 3.0.4 and 3.0F).
Hope that fixed it cause there isn't much else I can think of.....
So now I get this error:
Host_Error: CL_Parse_Version: Server is protocol 25112 instead of 4.
And a host of few others.
After googling it, theres some liek that that have to do with the router.
I have the router they talk about, but my brother tells me its at the latest firmware.
Is there any ports or anything I should open for HL?
I can play on a game for kind of a longer while now. When I connect to a server with port 27015, hmm.. it actually works.
edit: nope, doesnt even work on 27015.
gonna make sure that the ports are open correctly.
also ive talked ot my friends who said they had the same problem and they said they changed one of the setting and it fixed it but they cant remeber which
Never had problems with it before. I'll get the latest drivers for it, while I'm thinking about it.
But on another note. In order to play, you have to have some ports opened.
According to here:
<a href='http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1406' target='_blank'>http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1406</a>
Here:
<a href='http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/BEFW11S4/Steam.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...W11S4/Steam.htm</a>
and here:
<a href='http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=page%3D2%26cid%3D1115416835852%26c%3DL_Content_C1&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&SubmittedElement=Linksys%2FFormSubmit%2FProductDownloadSearch&sp_prodsku=BEFSR11' target='_blank'>http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c...prodsku=BEFSR11</a>
It says you have to have the ports opened.
They are open, and I still get the issue.
+clientport 27007
27007 can be any port. Forward this port to your computer via your router.
