If you have no girlfriend, social life, job or school and you live on your pc I'd recommend you buy WoW.

If you have any of the above and want to keep them do not play WoW

In all seriousness I've not played it but lots of people recommend it to me. So I say go for it and buy it.

Well you can "win" WoW in 3-4 months of play. Then it's just a grind from then on into infinity. Nothing really new to do except run generic instance over and over. That's what put me off of it. I hit level 60, and after a month of instance running I tried the EvE online trial. A week later I cancelled my WoW account and never looked back...

Any how let me put this another way for you all i have pleanty of incom will i get my moneys worth out of this game 30 pounds maybe more (game card) or will i buy it and never play it becuase to be honest i doubt it will stay hooked i get bored very easily thats why i have over 100 games (in 2 years)

People get bored of WoW because they rush to 60. Simple as that. WoW is the most fun, addictive, and most game-like MMORPG out if you take the time to absorb the world. I've had it for months and my max level is 57. I've been playing since before honour, so yeah. Lots of alts, lots of exploration. I play every day, too. There's a hell of a lot more to it than levelling and getting gear. A good half of my playtime is spent exploring. Hell, I've gone up Mount Hyjal. AND I've killed the real king of Stormwind. I'm the one with the axe!

(Note that with most games I play less than a week.)

didn't you already start a thread asking the same question? ;P

I posted a long comparison of the pros and cons IMO there...

basically, WoW is more fun, but you'll probably get bored of it quicker than you would SWG. depends on you, though, I guess. also, SWG is better for role-playing.

as for CoH, I never played it, kinda wanted to though.

Blah. WoW is fine for RP if you look for it and try. RP in WoW is all about intializing it. I've had great sessions. There's a hell of a lot of history and style to pull from to make characters.

CoH is grind-tastic, with no PvP.

I'm not into RP so I was just posting based on hearsay. of course, WoW has entire servers devoted to RPers so I'm sure it can be pretty good :>

Not really, no. RP'ers are often the odd man out, even on RP. Too many servers, not enough GM's. I prefer it, though. Strengthens the RP community.

I got bored of GW after about a week. PvP is secondary to me, and that's pretty much all GW is about

The PvE was boring as hell for me. All the environments felt so closed in and not alive, and the PvP was .. well, sub par to WoW's for myself. I enjoy the freedom WoW gives you in PvP over GW's stricter spell limit and movements.

Also, tabards > Capes.

I've played both SWG (Master Bounty Hunter and Master Pistoleer, got out before the Combat Update) and WoW (level 60 rogue).

Each game is different. There is 1000000000000000000000000x more content in WoW, as opposed to SWG - however, I loved hunting jedi. The only problem was the system was completely broken, as was combat in general. SWG now has 2 expansions out (Rage of the Wookies and Jump to Lightspeed) both of which I've never played. I was bored at work and was checking out SWG and it seems like they're getting better - but still not at a point where I'd want to resubscribe. If they ever get p[layer bounties (aka not hunting insane jedi) in the game I might look again.

WoW on the other hand is a lot of quests (whereas SWG is going to mission terminals and killing a snake out in the middle of a dessert for some money) where you get some nice rewards. PvP is getting better in WoW as well. If you don't know - WSG (Warsong Gultch - a fast paced CTF instance) and AV (Alatic Valley ?sp? is a 40vs40 battleground) are both ingame now and they being updated.

I cancalled my wow account though - the honor system (the way you rank up an gain pvp armor) was frustrating, but now they fixed that problem (items going off lifetime rank rather than current rank) and I plan to renew once I'm back in school.

More power to you Sentry Steve. Personally I love the PvP armor, and as soon as I hit sixty, get my Quel'surrar and Immoveable object (which are my two final goal objects for my protection PvP warrior...!) I'll be happy. Orc looks killer in PvP armor along with an oversized axe and cool looking shield.

To be honest, I loved the PvP before the battleground. I would be on Ventrilo with about five other guildies, and we would just roam the plaguelands and chase down farmers and other PvP groups. It was much more dynamic and faster paced and the slugfest that is AV. All you had to do was fly to a high level area with some friends and you could get some great action almost immediately. Now, I have to wait upwards of two hours just to get into AV, and then it's just the same old back and forth boredom all night long. WSG can be better, but it's dominated by super-organized ten-man groups from the top horde guildes that have been running MC every day for the past six months.

I still have a month left on my account, but I can't stand the game anymore. I've run everything but MC a million times already (our small guild even managed to kill Onyxia with a little help), and the PvP is just too flawed to keep my interest. I've moved on to BF2, and I don't think I'll be looking back.

First of all,as I've said before, don't waste your money on Guild Wars if you're looking for a good solid RPG mode. (its PVP mode is meant to be good, but I've never tried that......yet) GW isn't that good as you might think.
WOW is a good solid MMORPG,that doesn't require 100% commitment to it every day. In fact, taking time away from WOW builds up character development. (rest mode)
I would recommend trying it for a month, then if you like it,buy the easily accessible gamecards (unlike some games).

I just dinged my first 60 this week and am still enjoying it. Played more or less every day since day 1. I played US open, stress, EU open, Korean, and final betas too. Usually I'm bored of a game in a week. I'm only now convincing my mates to try wow and most of them are hooked already.

The only way for wow is up now, and with the rate of pathces they're adding content, I'm pretty sure wow is gonna stay the game of my choice for at least another 6 months. No, 60 isn't the end of the game, it's just the beginning. Pre-60 is just boot camp.

Most people seem to think that you just HAVE to have the WHOLE of the class specific set blizz has made. In most cases once you have it it's gonna be traded for better stuff pretty soon, in 40 man instances. (For which aside from a chosen few, no uber stuff is needed)

Can't say about other MMO's tho, since wow is my first and only one so far. I dont see what the ranting about loss of social life, GF or job is tho. The game is designed for people like that. I mean they give you more exp the more you're offline damnit.
