Windows, stable and secure? Isn't that an oxymoron?
I can't think of any way to make fun of the name. Compared to XP
Windows XP = Windows Xtra Problems
LOL....I can just see it...Windows XP making faces at me at the blue screen of death
"XP Nah Nah...You've been suckered to using me XP"
QFT.

This is coming from a Linux user, but that's a pretty stupid thing to say rite there...
Use Windows 98, or ME. I use Windows XP along side Linux, and I garuntee that I've had more problems with Linux than with Windows, of course, that's why Linux is fun, because I get to fix stuff...
Windows XP, next to OSX is the most stable OS I've ever used. At least for me, because I don't do stupid things with it, like use IE...
Of course M$ provides the home edition to home users because they think home users can tolerate less stability compared to the corporate edition.
Mind you we know how to "obtain" our corporate editions don't we.

Virus
Infection
Spyware
Trojan
Adware
By the way, I like WinXP. For the longest time, Windows 2000 was Microsoft's best product: it was much more stable than the other versions and the Professional version had the functionality/user-friendly scale dropped nicely in the favor of functionality, which is something I like. WinXP-SP2 brought XP right up in the league with Win2000. I've never had a major problem with either of the two systems.
I don't have anything against Vista yet, but I don't think I need to upgrade. I'll hold out until it becomes undeniably evident that purchasing a new OS is worth the money.

Yeah each Home Edition I have seen is a steaming pile of poop. My girlfriend has it and when I used it for the first time, desipite the 20+ spyware I had to go into safe mode to remove, I hated every second of it. It was slow things did not work. It was horrible and I never want to see another version of that XP again.
Vista could look promising but I wonder what the minimum specs are. It looks like eye candy and ram a rific with all its PRETTY affects added in to make the user all gooie eyed.
No, no joke. I was suggesting that Windows 98 and ME were unstable, and that compared to other versions of Windows, XP is insanley stable.
I most definatly was not saying that 98 and ME were stable in any way shape or form.

The one thing for sure with Vista is that if you want to enjoy its nice interface you need a GOOD video card because most of the GUI is apparently now gonna be handled by the GPU. Which is good in a sense but its a double edged sword really.
This is the the feature I've been looking forwards to. I hope they do something completely different.
There's always the classic interface available.
And also aren't Microsoft keeping the actual big user interface change secret for now?
Minesweeper isn't suitable for children! It might make them go on a killing spree!

There really ain't much of a difference between Pro and Home. There's remote desktop functionality, 'improved security and privacy features', a slightly different networking interface and well, that'll just about do 'er.
As a matter of fact, I've heard that one can install a functioning Pro from a Home boot disc if one is in the know.
What is with all the hate for microsoft and windows?
Same for me!!

It comes from people who think that bashing MS justs makes them l33ter...
QFT, it is quite silly.
And what is with all the different colors? Some of the information bars at the bottom of the windows are blue, some are rust, some are purple, some are red, and some are green.
I don't like the picture icons. They allow users to see if the folder contains multiple items at a glance, but it's done poorly. Personally, the "Details" foldier view works fine to tell me how many items are in a given folder.
I still don't like the minimize/restore/close button placement, either.
Internet Explorer 7 looks pretty bad.
Hawt, windows adopted a feature Linux has had since... well, a long time ago. Sort of... in its own Windowsy way.
That ought to stop spyware and junk, for a while at leasy anyway, at least if ther user has more than 3 brain cells.
And is it just me, or does IE7 look like Safari?
Yes, IE7 does look like Safari.
In the other way, I'm **** because they haven't done this stuff that Linux/Unix/Mac OS has had for years. I think I'll give Vista a try, but for me it's OS X all the way. *huggles his mac*
