ok since you're suggesting Doom1 engine instead of wolf3d engine coz it's better than why don't you suggest quake1 engine coz it's better than doom1 engine or quake2 engine coz it's better than quake1 engine or half life 1 engine coz it's better than quake2 engine. oh wait a minute.
this better not die <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The Quake 2 Engine is available under GPL. Also, release that version you have. It looks awesome. (well, you know what I mean. In all of it's pixelicious glory <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
It is rather fun to play, just the aliens need a general health boost overall, skulks take 1 shot of anything, fades take 1/2 shots depending on the weapon, and onos takes 3 (this is on easiest skill level)
<!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif' /><!--endemo--> -this thing in ? I saw the hive.
The Reason we suggested the Doom engine(s) and not Quake is because Wolfenstien, in my opinion, was really lame. I thought the Doom engine(s) was a step up from Wolfenstien, but not to over the top to where we use Quake. If we use Doom, we could implement so many functions that NS is famous for, but not over the top to where it is just another NS game except with bad graphics...this is supposed to be Retro NS right? It can't be on some newer engine. I also just like Doom alot, it was the first FPS in the sense of trend setting.
It has always been my Dream to do this, right when I first started playing NS back in 1.04...I think I might actually try to port it into Doom now...if this project is truly finished, then I am going to attempt to try my own. It will be Vanilla Doom, so we won't have issues getting it to people that use different source engines...I'm gonna first have to get all the sprites and sounds. Tweaking enemy abilites will be later, then onto the actual level design...any help would be appreciated...
EDIT: Oh yeah, c'mon, Doom isn't retro enough??? Jesus Christ man, 12 years! And Wolfenstien is only like one year behind that, so they are both about the same age...
wow. I shouldn't have ignored this thread. really. RELEASE IT, AND RELEASE IT NOW !!!! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Four levels using state of the art pixel pain technology for you playing pleaser. There’s still a lot of work to be done but hopefully this should give people something fun to play with.
Also some one better host some mirrors pretty dam fast cos the bandwidth on my website is pretty lame. As soon as some one makes a mirror can they post it up? And I will edit this post and drop my lame one.
Enjoy and hopefully I will release a better version soon…also if anyone else is interested in developing to project or perhaps moving to the doom engine I would certainly help post up here. Crotalus I will head up a doom team with you if that’s really what you wanna do. That sounds cool. However I wanted to re-create the total 2d plain value of wolf 3d for ns with really rubbish graphics and dodgy sounds.

There are installation details included in the read me file, sorry for the fuss and 6 week sleep I had.
To get this old thing working, download <a href='http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1' target='_blank'>Dosbox86</a> It's a program with which you can emulate an old 486.
When installed, type "mount D: c:\downloadfolder\retrons" (without the " " , and where c:\downloadfolder is the place you have saved the file onto"
