It causes a full system lockup. The screen freezes, the mouse freezes, the keyboard freezes... the only thing that works is the ever-faithful reset button :/
I can play fine in arthur's house, save rooms, town, the initial caves but graveyard and the egg chamber both cause these weird crashes after x time has passed. I'm still convinced it's music related as it happens at the same point every time in the music and the only warning is the music crackling and stuttering like heck before the final blow hits -.-
That's ultra-weird. If you've tried it with patches, without patches, with only certain patches, and with both the version 1.005 game and 1.0 patch (found <a href='http://mr-syd.lardpirates.com/junk/doukutsu.zip' target='_blank'>here</a>), then my only guess could be that it's either some other program running is interfering with it, or something might be up with your OS. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'll give the 1005 a try I guess... The weird thing is I'm not having problems with anything else, it's only in the two areas I mention (so far) and I can even 'dodge' the crash by escaping from the game when the tell-tale crackling of the music starts :o

Okay, so I meant Labrynth M. In fact, this goes for basically any situation where the game crashes. It should work.
even tried that and the 1005 now omega. Crashy crashy :/
It's definitely something to do with the music... jumping into the save area on the egg corridor where the music is different or watching that dialogue scene between the two bunnies is fine; I could leave the system on for hours with no problems. The minute I get to a certain point in the egg corridor music however (even if it's been delayed by the part with the dialogue which fades the music out... it continues from where it left off after the dialogue is finished) it causes total PC lockdown :s
Seeing as it's the music causing it I might roll back my sound drives like someone suggested or maybe even try switching to my onboard sound card while playing the game to see if that fixes it ^^;

I'm sorry, but I seem to remember that links to Home of the Underdogs are frowned upon here due to the doubtful legality of some of their downloads. If you google "Home of the Underdogs," it's the first hit, just search for "doukutsu monogatari" on their page.
Come to think of it though, I'm not completely certain whether the credits were in japanese or not. If there was anything game-relevant during the credits (such as the characters saying goodbye or whatever) it was most definitely in english though.

the HotU one has the ORGview thing in it. its used to listed to the music from the game.
Awesome game. I just got to the X-shaped boss in Labyrinth W, and hes quite difficult. Died several times, then gave up to come back later.
But the sword is very cool at max level. Especially against bosses, where you can fire it once and King just sits there and keeps hacking away for a bit.

I've done 2 different endings but I hear there is a third
Saved my health potion for the last boss--which is good, since the last one is really tough, and you only ever get one health potion.
Haven't beaten the last boss yet, but I beat the first two stages, and then did maybe 50% damage to the third.
The Missile Launcher is really useful against the second stage last boss, because its fire rate is at least as high as the Machine Gun, and with more damage. When you manage to get in his face with a Missile Launcher, you can empty out your entire clip pretty fast, and that does a ton of damage.
I got to the 3-boss part. When I got above the resupply place right before then and saw the sign, I thought the game was ending right there <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

its lvl3 attack consists of launching baby chickens about 15 feet for 1 damage each.
how to get this weapon i shall not say, but i will say that you must give up your blade
