<div class="IPBDescription">this thing is messing me up BAD!</div> Ok there is this thing called Messenger Service that randomly pops up! When im playin NS it will pop up and i have to click OK. Then i get to desktop and loose sound which is no good! Does anyone know how to stop this without paying for some program?

    Looks like you've got ad software on your system.

    Depending on what OS you're using, there's several ways to remove this junk software. There's also programs that'll scour your system for you and dig up all this crap.

    That thing is actually not caused by spyware, it's a "feature" of windows 2k/xp. To make it stop go into your Administratative Tools. It's in control panel I think. Open the "Services manager" and look for something called "Messenger Service" set this to disabled.

    So now windows comes with adware already installed... just great. I dont think that is a windows thing tho. Looks a lot like spyware to me but i may be wrong.

    Ya i heard that it was a part of XP. One of the adds was an add for a program that got rid of these adds for $25.00

    Go to RUN and type in MSCONFIG
    Untick ALL boxes that you know are not needed, on Win XP ALL can be unticked but on 98 (which is what i'm running) you need certain boxes ticked (i.e Load Power Profile)

    But the best thing to do is run programs like Pest Patrol and Adaware and let me remove these
    annoying things for you

    The "windows messaging service" was put in place so that sysadmins could send important messages out to their users. But in true Microsoft style, it was left wide open, so now we get this type of spam. If you are a home user, just turn the Messaging service off and dont' worry about it anymore. =)

    absolutely correct. Really this type of stuff should be ILLEGAL too. Without a doubt this is an invasion of privacy, and could even be harrassment. :/
