Encouragement

(this is a repost from before the rollback)
I just wanted to add a note of encouragement. I don't think anyone who hasn't been involved in creating a game, whether it is a mod, or a full game engine, has any clue as to how much time, energy, blood, sweat, tears and money is involved. Natural Selection is the most original, creative and sophisticated mod ever created for Half-Life one, and on top of that it has production values that are equal to, or better than any of the official mods that have been released; the only one that even comes close is, perhaps, Day of Defeat. If any mod deserves to succeed, and make its creators fat and rich, Natural Selection is the one.
So I'm glad to see Flayra and NS getting back on their feet after what has obviously been a very tough year, and I appreciate the openness and honesty about the struggles that have been faced. They give a very interesting, and somewhat painful, look into the very demanding and difficult business of game creation. But every great game is more than a game, it is as much a work of art as anything created by any great painter, sculptor, or author, and great art generally requires a blood sacrifice of some sort. Let's hope that all the necessary blood has already been spilled for Natural Selection.
Best wishes to Flayra and everyone involved in Unknown Worlds. If I was a wealthy investor I would happily invest, but I'm afraid the best I can offer right now is some words of encouragement.

Out of curiosity, how many people have bought ns gear? I'm actually thinking about getting a t-shirt and advertise in my school. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Just don't want to be the first one

I wish there were black t-shirts. But personality, I'd rather buy an NS-mouse pad or even an NS-poster than a t-shirt.
I think the t-shirt is a little too plain.

Actually, I do think that the hardest part is now behind us. I definitely learned a whole lot in the past two year (translation: made a lot of mistakes) and I feel like our plan forward now is rock-solid. I was a little too focused on my dream future of the game instead of cash flow and that was a painful lesson to learn, but I'd rather learn it now when I can recover instead of later when it would kill the company.
We do have a few big announcements we're going to make soon, shortly after the site is back and I think Unknown Worlds and NS are going to pick up a lot of momentum now. Zen of Sudoku looks like it's going to fund the company long enough to get the next NS game done, which I think is going to knock your socks off.
You guys have always been the reason for us to to keep going, no matter how tough it got. I've consistently been amazed at how much the community has helped us when we simply asked. You are a precious resource that's worth nurturing no matter what. This huge downtime will only prove just how resilient and passionate you guys are.
Onward and upward!

I know I have defenitely learned from my mistakes. Probably, about 6 or 7 months ago, I had little confidence in the team, like a lot of the community. I wasn't a big proponet of the idea of NS returning or the forums, for that matter. My outlook in things has changed, and I'm sure UWE will easily be able to pull itself up from its bootstraps.
On a note for things for the better? NS gave me the experience and knowledge I needed to, to move on and look into other games and become big into the communities. Once I started with my contributions and such, I became tester after tester for mods and small games. Eventually, it landed me a job at Epic Games, and I'm very happy because of it.
Charlie, even though some of us may of not been supportive of you, or even believed in you, because I know at one point I had lost hope, I think a good amount of us are here now. You can't run a game company without a fanbase, or else you become Atari. BAZING.
Anyways, all the best of luck. And I support UWE as much as I can without actually buying Zen yet.. I'm buying it for my sister in law's birthday, but thats not for another month and a half. :/
Flay, if you read this, send me an email sometime, I know I sent you one.

I bought my cousin a T.S.A. poster as a birthday present a few years ago. He still has it up in his room today.

Nice. I assume he plays NS too and was stunned when you gave him a t-shirt? It's cool, I just hope that if I buy one, it won't be a one-time deal when I put it in my laundry rofl.
So, yeah. Let's see how things go, shall we?
So keep going dev team, you are doing great, big setback with the website though :*(
