<div class="IPBDescription">What the Dilly yo?</div><a href="http://www.nsarmslab.com/flash/custom.php" target="_blank">NSArmsLab</a>

After the revival of the NS boards, I decided to fire back up NS and see what's changed in the community and beta. I wanted to see if there was any new model packs so I visited my favorite site, NSArmslab. Low and behold, it seems it's less than functional right now. Trying to view their downloadable model packs just spews out a jargon of code onto the screen in one huge mess. Are there any other sites available to download model packs from or perhaps anyone know when they plan on fixing this? They seem to be not quite responsive to emails.

That's strange; they were active only a few days ago. I didn't check their forums, so they may have been planning downtime for all I know.

Their site is a script-faily mess, but it's back up. I've noticed that their servers are empty more often than not, but I'm willing to blame that on the time of day I normally play.

NSA used to have full servers all the time. That was many months ago. Now, I don't see anyone playing there. Very sad <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Yeah, what's up with NSA being so empty nowadays? I used to play there often, and then suddenly, no one shows up. What's going on? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

I remember NSA having quite a few plugins that would later become standard back in the day. SCs cloaking stuff, anyone?

NSAgames is re-launching the community come January.

It is expanding its server base (i.e. more variety) and will offer services to gamers and modders alike.

We have a CS:S Gun game test server up at 67.19.204.39:27015 as we are going to be primarily based off source engine games. We are thinking of putting up a new NS server but we have to see if we can justifiy its existence first.

It'll be back, it just takes some time is all.

I never liked NSA because whenever I played there, I never seemed to come across adminning, which is more important to me than server features.

However, its great to see NSA is coming back! Huzzah!

worried about admins on nsa?! from what i've seen nsa is the best maintained server, fewest problems i've seen on a server.

I'm sure with 3.2 and NS2 on the horizon, plenty of players may still want their custom gfx...

Its going to be even bigger than that. We plan to over customization for all source mods, as well as a place where people can do "freelance" mod work.

I do not know if we will be running the NSArmslab.com server anymore simply because it really hasn't been filled that much since we put it to beta. No sense in having a game server that is not going to be used, we can put the resources to much better use.

We plan on running Source based games and as I said we have a CS:S Gun game server up where I am still experimenting with the configs and what not. Anyone who can help test the server will be rewarded.

NSA will return in full force, expect something in early 2007.

I remember NSA emailing its members asking for monetary support. I still have the email. I have noticed it also that the servers are empty. But with NSA turning around in 07 and with the NS forums open again, the community should be turn around and be in its full force in the up coming months, again.

Firewater, i can help you test the servers. I have been admining/installing/configuring/maintaining servers since 03, on various mods. PM me and let me know what i can help you with.

I think we have our admin staff taken care of for the most part, but as far as the community coming back I do not forsee that happening simply because the NS playerbase has dropped yet again as of the last release.

I refuse to run a server (much less one I will be paying for) that will remain empty for a majority of the day. We are in talks of closing it down because we do have limited resources and we can put those resources to better use.

Unless there is a sudden surge of players on the server I see no justification for it to exist.
  • LeonLeon Join Date: 2006-10-31 Member: 58131Members
Maybe theres a reason other than the playerbase dying off that caused your server to be empty. I contributed a couple times to NSA but the random change to siege pistols and all those retarded plugins made me never play there again.

the playerbase isnt a reason for an empty server at all. the TP servers are always full during the day, and the 187 server had a full 26 people even at 5am est last night. so its the server setup and maintainance that determines if your server is full or empty

Umm yes it is for our server, the majority of the playerbase has left when the server went on hiatus for a few months.

I don't see them returning for NS, hopefully we can attract them with the other games we are currently and will offer.

The server config is fine, and the box is the same box they have been using for the past 3 years.

187 is packed because it really appeals to the people that want forceable prolonged combat games that often take 45+ minutes and usually end in stalemates. This is partially due to their /menu mod and the rest due to their build mod. Their build mod lets you build objects costing a level per object with a fairly weak limit, donators's build limits are even lighter. Since you regain levels lost if a player destroys the structure, it can make maps last an extremely long time if some guy joins a game and spams 4 TFs on the CC or a gorge rushes into a base and spams 6+ OCs. Most of the people on their server are far more interested in purposely structure blocking to be llamas and since the admins pretty much ok it, it attracts a lot of lamers unfortunately.

Thats kind of lame, long games that are not close are really just a waste of time.

I checked out NSA a long long time ago, but I didn't like the plugins so I never came back. I'm for vanilla combat and regular ns.

NSarmslab/NSAgames is not a one size fit all, there are plenty of other servers to accomodate whatever style of gameplay you choose.

Also I'm surprised the mods haven't locked this topic yet because of all the slander that is being spoken, I know they used to do that for LM when people would constantly bash it. I wonder why they are not locking it now.

It's a conspiracy against YOU firewater!!!

Okay, the rule has always been that you can discuss server communities as long as you don't air your grievances with them here. I'm locking this topic and will remove all of the negative stuff posted about NSA here.

For the record, NSA have always been very supportive of the ns dev team, and we are always appreciative of the help they give us. If you have issues with NSA, then take it up with them, DO NOT use these forums to publicise your bad experience with them.

Yeah it is good to read things thoroughly to avoid embarassment.

Anyways expect big things in in either January or February from NSA Games, but for now you can play on the servers we have setup in my signature.

I loved NSArms! Can't wait for the comeback. I'm sick of having to choose from about 3-4 good servers, and 2 of them are usually full. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
