Get rid of Onos? How about improve or change the species. I trully believe there should be a big beast for the aliens, it's a lot of fun seing ppl running away and preparing to kill the beast, due to it's enormous bulk. The onos is part of the family already >:
i think people just want to see something new. why not simply "evolve" the kharra in general? add a few new life forms, and alter the originals. that way everyone gets what they want.

Im gonna have to agree with this, I cant live with out my Onos or me lerky jerky lol
onos is cool, dont let them die he is like an strong elephant <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Onos is pretty cool but they really need to do a some work on the maps to make it useable (no climping ladders etc.). Perhaps they can come up with even better creature design(s).
How bout a tv in the onos stomach.. maybe south park or something <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Oh and then after he's done digesting the Marine the Onos poops out the remains. Either from his bum or else where.... hmm... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tiny.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::onos::" border="0" alt="tiny.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />
And maybe add something like enabling the Onos to eat up to 2-4 Marines at the same time but make it walk Slower, maybe Attack slower, and the more it eats, the higher chance it has to explode (Killing the Onos, but having the Marines fall out, and perhaps some kind of a Explosion damage?) ! That would be prettttty damn neat. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Onos are great. they do just what they should. if they are being changed all that needs to be done is make them looks meaner and something needs to be done about devour say the marine can do alittle damage over time in there so if he wants to keep him down he has to go back to the hive.
and u should be able to jump over stomp or dodge it with some skill
Well, an onos shouldn't be able to climb ladders and stuff, but it should instead be able to alter the map in such a way that it can access areas - like charging through doors and such stuff, and create it's own alternate routes.
But it should still be the most expensive unit to get - not like in NS1 when several players can save up for an onos with a bit of luck.
yes, it should still be expensive. and it should also change.
the goal of NS2 is not to remake NS in source engine. NS2 is, as i understand it, supposed to be a new game built on the same concept. therefore, making onos the same but looking meaner is definitely not enough. it has to be different.
onos (and maybe another very large alien?) being able to charge through doors is a cool idea. mappers could create onos-specific doors which are only breachable with onos, or maybe a demo pack from marines.
not allowing the larger beasts to climb ladders, imo, would definitely make things more believable, but at the same time pose gameplay problems. mappers will need to create alternate routs for large aliens. it'll make things a bit more difficult for the mapper, but I think it's worth looking at.

Yeah sure, I agree. We need some sort of indicator instead of listening to the sounds or watching the marine disappear very suddenly.

Why does it have those tentecles on his back, oh yeh he used to have paralyse <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> And perhaps give the stomp effect an environment effect like shaking of screen, random lights breaking, denting the floor and a concussion effect like the nades do in call of duty, not the omg I can't move/shoot effect like NS1 now has.
I think that's a VERY good point Kouji. Seeing perfectly and not being able to move sucks. on the other hand, having vission blured so much the best you can determine is light and dark, and having a severly limited mobility would be far more realistic and possibly less frustrating. not to mention it would increase immersion.

Motion Blur is very sketchy because it can't be done with regular DX7 cards, so having such a card would be a clear advantage.

Would it really be such an advantage in the source engine suped up to NS 2 standarts? If they don't choke even on low settings, which I doubt, these cards could be countered by introducing not only the blurry vision on high end cards but random aiming jittering when stomped or something...
Seriously, they need to let DX7 go... right... now.
Minimum should be DX8, considering that NS2 isnt coming out "in awhile". Anyways, i think there are otherways of "blocking" the view if you have DX7 card.
Motion blur is something that does not use shaders, So DX 7 cards SHOULD be able to use it, I dunno why they would not... <i> Here's something that is in Garry's Mod: Motion Blur. This method doesn't use any shaders and will therefore work on most graphic cards.</i>
it'd be pretty funky if you could see a spot of light in the ono's belly when the ingested marine turns his flashlight on, or if he had it on upon consumption. i might also be cool if as you go through the digestion process, you start out with full visibility, or maybe slightly blurred, and progressively move toward a black screen with successive levels of blur added in for good measure. it would be as if your body is slowly shutting down from losing blood/being digested etc.
the new effects would be awesome and they should keep the onos... first time i got eaten by one i knew this game would rock and iv been in love ever since
You should be able to knife the onos inside out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I would love to see a fully 3D onos stomach while being digested. Also effects like being eaten with the flashlight on and glowing on the outside would be very cool.

onos should be recreated to fat spider and goes 90 degree rotate when on ladder, he still eats people and stomps and has gore and charge just a spider that has belly half a foot from ground.
and make it entertaining when your in onos belly, like, make a new weapon which is finger and poke onos belly alot to pass the time. it should make squishy noises <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
"and make it entertaining when your in onos belly, like, make a new weapon which is finger and poke onos belly alot to pass the time. it should make squishy noises"
this would be lots o fun, but maybe a bit pointless... maybe if you could hack your way out of the onos belly with your knife if he was on low HP, maybe under 150hp?
also, make it so when the marine is finally digested, he is excreted out the back of the onos, maybe the Onos poo could act like fertilizer to the dynamic infestation??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tiny.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::onos::" border="0" alt="tiny.gif" />
I'm not sure if I like the extrement idea. That's not some thing I really need to see while I'm playing NS. I'm totally for immersion but really, come on?
