Lad, I'm afraid that you've posted this in the wrong place. However, I seem to have a similar issue and I don't have any filters on. Check to see if you have any filters on and disable them to see if it makes a difference. Would a mod please move this to Tech Support?

Appearantly there's some kind of major storm at the place their login servers are located and they have a power outage. So yea.. I believe noone at all can login at the moment.. Also they apperantly don't have any backup servers I think. For some reason it's not posted in the steam news but if you check the general discussion in the steam forums you'll see it. <!--QuoteBegin-Blinxx+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Blinxx)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin--> "Steam Is Currently Having Trouble Connecting to the Steam Servers" Error - 15/12/06 There is currently a wide spread power outage in Bellevue/Seattle impacting Steam Server availability. Whats even sadder is that there people's lives significantly affected by the storm and all people can think about is how they can't feed their addictions.
People make mistakes, it happens, move on or play a game that isn't on steam.

Backup generators aren't perfect, and servers take a good deal of power, generally more than your home PCs. Servers have no big ###### video cards, but they have tons of hard drives, and hard drives make tons of heat, which means big air conditioners, which take TONS of electricity to run. At work we have our backup generator running off natural gas, so we don't have to worry about refilling or running out of gas(except in some very odd circumstances), but most I've heard about are diesel generators with limited capacity. In any case, WTH don't they have a second data center on the east coast(Or just outside of washington?) that they synch with? I mean, they're trying to build a reliable(hah) global e-commerce software distribution and update system... WTH did they only have one datacenter?
