Uhh.. how about robots?

<div class="IPBDescription">the flimsy wheeled ones, that is</div>So.. has the idea of robots been introduced? Not those walking ones carrying a gun on each arm and rockets on its shoulders, but instead, those small remote wheeled ones that they use in the military today (for demining, combat, etc.).
Of course, for 100+ years in the future, the robots would be faster, cooler looking, and possibly with AI as well (like in Metal Gear Solid 4) So, how about including them in NS?
One possible way to implement them is by making them spawnable/deployable by the commander only, and send them to a certain waypoint for certain purposes, such as combat support (giving ammo, health, welding etc.), linking up to structures to give them special abilities or something (like increased turret speed, or faster harvesting of resources for RT's) or even motion tracking. Of course, this would be redundant as there is already motion tracking in the game, and commanders can already teleport supplies to the troops. They could also be sent ahead of forces to test enemy defences.
Another possibly way to implement them is by making them equipment carried by marines, who would then deploy them from a backpack form or something else that's neat and compact. The robot would follow the marine around and provide squad level electronics support, or even carry spare mags or health when the commander is too busy or res-stressed to supply them him/herself. The marines could even send out simple "go to" or "return" commands for recon purposes. Of course, no one wants to see 16 little robots tagging along 16 marines all the time. They could be made so that it's 1 per squad though.
There could also be a limit on them too, like only 4 deployed at a time. Maybe they could carry a little taser with them.
Discuss?

1. Short range motion tracking with "wall-hack" features.
2. Basic Marine go-to, follow, and return features. Only follow one Marine.
3. Carries limited amount of resource to be used for either ammo, health, or welding.
4. CANNOT leave the Marines or else it will power down. Must always stay near them.
5. Needs to be "used" by one Marine if it is to function. One Marine cannot fight if the squad wants surveillance.
Essentially, the best thing about this drone is the short range motion tracking. To make sure it isn't obsolete when MT is researched, it will also allow one to "see" behind walls, like a wall-hack. Obviously this will have a short range. To offset the drone's high powered surveillance, it will have no armaments, it must stay next to the Marines, and will need one Marine to "use" it to keep it operating. Essentially, you have one Marine in one squad the Drone will only follow. In order for the Drone to function, he will need to keep "using" it. As soon as he stops using it, the Drone loses surveillance after a few seconds. You've got one man out, but because of this, you get extra surveillance.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

1. Hull mounted camera so the Commander can see through the drone's eyes. DIRECT control from commander.
<strike>2. Limited "Ping" ability. Less effective than Observatory but less resource.</strike> (Nevermind, it's already powerful enough).
3. Able to fly into crevices and crawl spaces, also unlimited range.
4. Must be VERY VERY weak because it has no map restrictions.
This type of drone will be pathetically weak. One bite would blow this thing. It's best feature is its speed and hover capabilities. It will have full three 3D movement, so it can reach vents and stuff. It would be DIRECTLY controlled by the commander, and he will have a 1st person view from it. He can only see hostiles through the camera, so aliens don't show up on the map if he just parks the drone in a hive and switches out to overhead mode. This prevents the Drone from being a lame MT drone, the commander will have to look around in first 1st person like a normal Marine. Again, it's best features are speed and 3D movement.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
