Alright we're going to start the game with our playercount of 17 players.
<b>Name in bold</b> means you've posted in the thread
<i>Name in italics</i> means you have Peon on IRC
1. <b><i>im_lost (PST)</b></i>
2. <b><i>Eternaly_Lost (EST)</b></i>
3. <b><i>Nightstalker (EST)</b></i>
4. <b><i>Comprox (Mountain Time)</b></i>
5. <b><i>Xentor (EST)</b></i>
6. <b><i>screaming_tree4 (EST)</b></i>
7. <b>Demiguise (GMT)</b>
8. <b><i>Petco (PST)</i></b>
9. <b><i>EMP_Demon (CST)</b></i>
10. <b><i>doomchica (PST)</i></b>
11. <b><i>TheAdj (EST)</b></i>
12. <b>Omegaman (EST)</b>
13. <b>Chakuu (EST)</b>
14. <b><i>Theslan (PST)</i></b>
15. <b><i>GrayDuck (PST)</b></i>
16. <b><i>Isamil (EST)</i></b>
17. <b><i>Mantrid (PST)</b></i>
Here's how it's going to work:
There will be four wolves, and <b>no kill going to day one</b>. With 18 players there would have been 4 wolves and a kill day one so it's going to be more or less the same except that every person here will get a chance to play for at least a day.
At the beginning of each night, each player still in the game will send me a PM that describes what action they would like to take that night in order to search for the Artifact. In addition, each player may also submit their guess as to what the code is that holds the Artifact. This is the game map you will be playing on and beneath it I've described the actions you may take once per night.
<img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y156/Freak83/TWG%20X/MapDefault.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
<b>Search</b> - You will remain in the same room overnight and search it very thoroughly. The advantage associated with this method is if there is <i>no clue</i> in the room you are searching, you will be notified that that room does not contain a clue.
<b>Move and Search</b> - You may move <i>only one room</i>. For example if you're in "The Den" you may only move to the "North Corridor" or the "East Corridor" as it is the room directly beside it. You will then search the room. If you do not find a clue you will get a message stating "You did not find a clue in this room". Note that this <i>does not</i> mean that there is no clue in this room, it simply means you did find it.
<b>Move</b> - You may move a maximum of two rooms but you will not search that night. For example if you're in "The Den" you may move to either the "Bedrooms", the "Pool and Gym", or the "Boardroom" as each of those rooms are two rooms away from where you are standing.
<u><b>About Individual Clues</b></u>
- 6 of the 12 searchable rooms contain clues. You will need all 6 to get the code without any guessing
- You will most definatly need to team up with other players and share clues in order to get the Artifact first. Otherwise you would need to wait until Day 6 at a minimum to find all the clues (assuming you found one clue per night which is unlikely)
- You <i>may not</i> move through the "Courtyard" but you <i>may</i> move through the "Main Hall"
- Do not search the "Main Hall". It does not contain a clue
The only way to be sure that a room does not contain a clue is by doing the following
1. Use the "Search" option
2. Be the Investigator
3. Be the only one to search a room that night
<b><u>About Group Clues</b></u>
The group clues are the clues that will be given in the story and will be availble to everyone to read. The main difference between group clues and individual clues is the way they are structured. Individual clues are very straight forward and just require problem solving. The group clues on the other hand are very vauge and will only be solvable to someone who is thinking outside the box. The group clues and individual clues DO NOT relate to each other and you can get the code either by the group clues alone, or the individual clues alone. Trying to combine them will not help you get the code in any way.
On the map I will show player locations each night so you can see who has searched where. For this thread please make a post to show that you're here and get on our IRC channel at #ns-twg @ irc.gamesurge.net
Please ask for rule clarification on anything you are not sure about as well. You'll receive your roles once the game actually starts and not until then. Good luck!

Comments
(Just checking in)
1) The Investigator knows that they have this role, right?
2) Is there any chance of us getting a clue for the night before we can send in a guess for the code? I'm guessing not, since you have to know who is searching which rooms to give out the right clues, but I just want to check.
2) There's no way of knowing your nights clue before you guess. You'll be making your guess with everything that has happened prior to the current night.
(i'm also just checking in ^^)
So, if multiple people choose to just search a room, one of them will get the clue, and the others will be told that there is a clue but someone else took it, right?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Not exactly, let's say that you, Mantrid, and Petco search the same room WITH a clue. You find the clue, and this is the message you would receieve.
"You searched the room and found a hidden clue. It reads:"
Now Mantrid and Petco would get a message from me reading something like
"You searched the room but failed to find a clue."
Notice it doesn't really state whether or not there was a clue in the room. They simply did not find one. Now let's assume the three of you search a room WITHOUT a clue and you are the Investigator. You would receieve a message along the lines of:
"You searched the room, but this room does not contain a clue."
Now Mantrid and Petco would get a message from me reading something like
"You searched the room but failed to find a clue."
(The same message as before)

For the moment, I'm working with the idea that the Investigator isn't in the room. Basically, if multiple people are in the same room, is there any advantage to searching compared to move and search? Higher chance of getting the clue? Knowledge that there is no clue in the room (if that's the case)? I'm trying to figure out why someone would choose to search.
Q about group clues. Once they are found by an individual, will they still be available for others to find, or are they hidden/gone to everyone else.
We send you where we want to move to, after you post the night one story?
Next, about when do we start?
And finally, If two people both search a room, (so they do not move) and it contains a clue, both will get it right? Or would we end up with something like You searched the room, there is a clue, but you did not get it? cause that would be annoying.
If they are 'gone' per-say, will we get a status on how many clues remain?
If I may ask, <b>where</b> do we start? (not sure if it was mentioned or not)

CourtYard, (Look at map, we are all in there)
So, first question.

Person A: Doesn't move and searches the room.
Person B: Moves to and searches the same room.
Would person A have a better chance of finding it?
Another question. The search option states "The advantage associated with this method is if there is no clue in the room you are searching, you will be notified that that room does not contain a clue.". Now what if a room has no clue and:
Person A: Doesn't move and searches the room.
Person B: In the same room, doesn't move and searches the room.
Would both find out there is no clue in the room (as the above statement seems to say) or will one find out there is no clue and the other only not find a clue (not know there is no clue at all)?
<!--quoteo(post=1597243:date=Jan 10 2007, 04:14 PM:name=im_lost)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(im_lost @ Jan 10 2007, 04:14 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
But what about
For the moment, I'm working with the idea that the Investigator isn't in the room. Basically, if multiple people are in the same room, is there any advantage to searching compared to move and search? Higher chance of getting the clue? Knowledge that there is no clue in the room (if that's the case)? I'm trying to figure out why someone would choose to search.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The only advantage with using "Search" compared to "Move and Search" is that with Search you will figure out whether or not the room you are searching contains a clue or not. However if you are the only person searching that particular room than Search offers no advantage, as you would either find it or not find it, quite simply.
The other reason someone may choose to search is let's say you're in the bathroom and so is another player. Assume the bathroom contains a clue and the other person found the clue that night. You talk with that player the following day and he tells you he found a clue but won't share it with you. Since you're in the bathroom and need that clue, you may then choose to search so you find the clue that night (assuming no-one else comes in the room) rather than moving to another room to search.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You'll send me the PM of where you want to move after a player has been lynched and I've posted the story to start the night. I'll have a message at the bottom requesting everyone to send me their PM for the night.
If two people both choose to search a room, only <i>one</i> player will find it. Only one person can find a clue in the room each night, so the maximum number of clues that can be found in one night is six. So yes, you will in the end get an answer telling you something like you searched the room but did not find a clue.

doh' I didn't mean group clues, I mean whatever we're calling the clues hidden in the room. Once they're found are they gone or do they remain?
If they are 'gone' per-say, will we get a status on how many clues remain?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The clues once found will remain in the room and can be found by another player. They will never dissapear.

If I may ask, <b>where</b> do we start? (not sure if it was mentioned or not)
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Thanks for asking, this is something I meant to but forgot to address. On night one you will pick a starting location in any room in the house. For this night I highly advise you to use "Search" and figure out if that room contains a clue. There is no logical reason to use "Move" or "Move and Search" on the very first turn.
<!--quoteo(post=1597335:date=Jan 10 2007, 07:04 PM:name=Comprox)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Comprox @ Jan 10 2007, 07:04 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
What I believe he is asking is if:
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
In your first scenario they would have the exact same chance of finding it. Using "Search" does not improve your chance of finding a clue in the room if there are multiple people in the room. In your second scenario your first guess is right. Both players would find out the room does not contain a clue.
If you need peon in the irc channel, join it and ask. You'll need an <a href="http://www.gamesurge.net/createaccount/" target="_blank">authserv acccount</a> if you don't already have one.

Odd.
When did you make the account?
Where you using the correct pass, and account name?
The syntax is
/authserv auth "Account name you registered on gamesurge" "Password"
make sure you did that
I'm trying to set-up my IRC client right now. I'll make another post once that's sorted out.
