old school gamers rejoice!
I was a little worried about SimCity 4, but then I read this review over at UGO and that pretty much eased my thoughts and put me into vigorous anticipation. I never liked SimCity 2000 or 3000 that much, but man oh man was I addicted to the original...
The thing that I think is the coolest is they've made it easier for the casual (read: Not obsessive compulsive) gamer by reducing the micromanagement required to play. I.e. you don't have to build every single little road in the game manually, that can happen automagically. But of course for those of you who like to count the toothpicks in the little cup thing, you can turn these features off and do it all yourself just like old times.
I highly recommend you read the above review of said game, and then check out their screenshots and the movie clip of the game. Quite impressive stuff.
Now if they would just make a new Out Of This World it'd be 1993 all over again...

Well, maybe for you SimCity had bad graphics. But halfway through my addiction to it, I moved to Seattle. And guess what? I started recognizing buildings out of the game, since Maxis was in Seattle (I think). One of the best things I ever got out of a computer game.
Let me translate:
NR2 (sorry, one would think he would talk about Sim City but...) was the best, with a little *some sort of sound the game (or whatever) made* my mate!

Oh and I *loved* SimTower! Almost as much as the original SimCity!
However, SimTower is great fun, I had heard a rumor (I don't remember where) about a new SimTower coming out I'm not sure if it was substantiated..

Indeed you are, just remember to keep an open mind and whatnot and realize that other people's tastes are not your own. I didn't like the Sims either, but I do understand that it appeals to a broad audience, and even helps bring in new players to the world of gaming who previously didn't know/care about it.
For example, I feel a similar way about Counter-Strike, when obviously I'm not in the majority. Its just a personal taste: the gameplay doesn't appeal to me. So its the same with The Sims with you.
Does that make everyone else an idiot? No, clearly not. There are many, many other reasons why everyone else is an idiot.
