I think printscreen doesnt work with direct-x. but your DVD software probably comes with a take a snapshot option. look for it, I use power dvd and it does.

DirectX Media does not capture to the clipboard. Try it playing an avi, you'll see the same result: black background. you wanna see something REALLY wierd though? move around the window and you'll see that the video underneith comes through the 'missing 'part of your image. messes with your mind, as programatically that shouldn't even be possible heh.

anyway, check your dvd player, most have a snapshot key to take a screencapture. powerDVD does for sure, but you have to turn OFF hardware acceleration...

Once a co-worker and I were working on a contract to invetory all the computers in a school district. Well we go to this one school and they are going to have a graduation ceremony that night. Well one of the teacher's husband has made this nice little video thing set to music and all and they want to play it up on a screen. So she has her laptop there and it plays fine in Windows Media Player on the laptop screen, but when we pipe it thru the projector, nothing but a black screen. We thought we would be nice and help her out, but we couldn't figure out for anything what was going wrong. I just fianlly said, I guess it's something to do with WMP and I guess it really was.
