the Nintendo game was so weird, but cool in its own way. =p hella hard though... remember getting really frustrated when I got to the last tower and repeatedly died and had to start over -_-
:o Oh, Peter say bad word!
They use traps, dammit! THEY DON'T JUST SHOOT GHOSTS! That just turns it into any old shooter.

That...
And Ecto1 looks much cooler then this new one. Retro FTW!!!
4 ghostbusters come across a big ghosty. The trap is set, but one ghostbuster can't hold him in place. The combined effort of three of the ghostbusters is needed and one to spring the trap.
Instant classic coop mode right there
Increase the amount of "big ghosties" by 10 and you have a ghost buster war on your hands <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
This one is a hoax. A very well crafted hoax.

I too am unimpressed. It just looks like another game.

Do you have any proof? Because that's a hilarious amount of effort to go through in order to fool people for no reason at all. We're talking hours and hours and hours of work.

A very very very very very.... very very very expensive hoax if it is.
It really just looks like gears of war with reskinned characters and weapon animations. Note the low down bobbing camera and aimer while running? That's pretty much carbon copied from GOW.

Wow, that's so lame. I mean honestly, who in their right minds would copy a minor feature from a huge, bestselling, critically acclaimed game? Do they seriously want any of that goodness to rub off on them? That might be dangerous.
People have been imitating success since the dawn of time. Just because it looks like Gears of War (honestly the running thing is the only similarity) doesn't make it a carbon copy. Plus, this is just an early demo.

Do you own a copy of gears of war? I only pointed out the running similarity because it was the first thing to spring into mind when I saw that video. The graphics technology and a bunch of very minor similarities that absolutely mirror (Like literaly the exact same camera position over the shoulder) lead me to the conclusion that they are using hte same engine, or something.
Anyway, since when do professional game companies release ultra beta alpha screenshots anyway?
It just looks and feels wrong to me... ghosts should get trapped not killed like that. The Ecto looks.... off.
Basically they're doing it all wrong -_-
Like has already been said, they're just making a ghostbusters-themed shooter, nothing more so far.
the only potential blessing is that it didn't look like they were shooting ghosts with it... it looked more like they were killing innocent people and destroying the city. Maybe they haven't put ghosts in yet and traps? There's always hope no matter how slim ^^
I want to locate ghosts via radar, corner the ghost, overcome the ghost or trap it. Not this GTA street shooter. Enough judgeing, let's see how it turns out.
Camera bobbing while running isn't new.
Thank you.
[edit] my english no so good.[/edit]

The "graphics technology" you speak of is the Unreal engine. You'll find that a number of games use it. I'd imagine that, this being a early tech demo and all, they didn't go through the trouble of changing the camera's position for no reason other than to be different. I mean, all first person shooter games since the beginning of time have had the same camera position. It's not like third person games aren't allowed to find one that works for them too.
And yes, they're using the same engine. Just like Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Halo Wars, Huxley, Mass Effect, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Roboblitz, Rainbow 6: Vegas, and Unreal Tournament 2007, among others, are using the same engine. It's a popular engine.

Actually, according to the Zootfly website, they make use of their own proprietary engine called "Xubl"

Well, that proves my point even more. That would mean there's 0 Unreal content in it, and that people are just making Gears of War comparisons because they're wearing GoW glasses or something.

QUOTE

GS: How long was Ghostbusters in development? And how long ago did development stop?
BT: The development started in May 2006 and was put on the back burner in July 2006, at which point we shifted the focus to TimeO, a Ghostbusters-inspired game.

They've admitted to "frankensteining" parts and features of other games as these videos were simply ment to give a small taste of what they were working on and the feel for the game. After all, the prototype alpha version wasn't really ment to be shown publically. Because they are having issues with the intellectual property owners of the game, they leaked these videos online to create a buzz and hopefully show the IP holders that fans really want a Ghostbusters game on a next gen console. So far, it looks like it's working and it's great. A lot of franchises from the 80s are coming back and it's about time Ghostbusters makes one.
By the way, people complaining about, "Zomg, no traps, Ecto 2 looks screwed up, what happened to the logo!? No Coop play!? This game looks horrible! Only protonpacks!? ect" Did you expect these people to pull a rabbit out of their hat and have a fully made game in 2-3 months worth of work with all the bells and whistles in place? Use your brains.
What I've heard is that first of all, this game was never truly intended for release and was expected not to get the IP license.
However, they did put these videos out onto the internet to create some buzz and so everyone was looking at the developer and talking to them, and then they always end up start talking about this other game.
So, Ghostbusters game here could just be a switch & bait tactic to get people interested in the company, and in turn gets people curious about their game Time0, which nobody probably would have cared for anyways before this whole incident.
They are using this Ghostbusters video to gain publicity so they can help promote their other game is what I'm getting at.
